Just In Case You Thought I Was Being Lazy...

Hey guys!  Sorry I went all MIA on you, especially after promising so many review posts.  This has been one of those weeks where real life took precedence over blogging. :}

Our house has been in various states of disarray since school got out.  Well, okay...probably even before that. ;)  But a month or so full of vacations, yard sales, and other activities has NOT helped the situation.  This week I was determined to make some headway on the playroom and on my bedroom, and the past two days I've pretty much done nothing else.

I didn't get any before pics, which actually works out pretty nicely for me because I would have been highly embarrassed to admit how bad things had gotten (boxes galore, stuff everywhere...I'm sure you can use your imagination). ;)  However, I did go around and take some after pics just because it made me smile to have things more organized in those rooms.  I thought you guys might enjoy seeing the finished product as well. ;)

So we'll start with my room...and Hubby's, of course.  Speaking of which, I would just like to say that I happen to have the most awesome husband EVER.  I mean, seriously, how many guys would put up with living in a room that looks like a doll museum exploded in it? ;)

Here's the first side of the room.  It's a wee bit on the crowded side, but so is every other room in our house.  It's a case of minimal storage and lots of furniture and a family of people who love collecting stuff...bad combination. :}

I thought I'd take a moment to show you Hayden's finished doll room, since I never did before.  And yes, I was a meanie and kicked Jenna out of the room (sorry Jenna!).  As I was putting the room together, I realized that I just gave Hayden too many interests, and as a result had way too much stuff for her to share a room with someone else.  I really like how it turned out, though.  So yeah, Hayden's the spoiled one.  That's okay...I'm used to Maggie's rants by now anyway. ;)

I hate using flash photography, but I honestly planned to for these pics so that you could see all of the details.  My camera had other ideas.  I really need to find the owner's manual so I can figure out how to work the stupid thing. ;)  Anyway, this is Hayden's shelf.  I had so much fun setting up all of her little collectibles on it! :D

The top has her floral arrangement, her picture of her and her sisters, and her My Little Ponies. :)

The next shelf has all of her Breyer horses...

...and the next one has her Princess Jasmine collection.  She also likes Belle and Ariel, but I decided to focus on Jasmine to keep her collection from getting too huge...especially since she has so many other interests. ;)

The bottom shelf has her Strawberry Shortcake collection, both vintage and modern.

I found these really cute removable wall stickers to use on the wall to make her name.  Unfortunately, NOTHING sticks to these walls.  I don't know if it's the paint or what, but even using glue didn't work!  The letters are starting to come up again.  You'll notice there's not much else up on her walls...this would be why.  It's frustrating enough having to fix one thing every time I look.

Chester and Felicity grace the front of her bed, along with a tiny stuffed tiger.

And here's her dresser with all of her little treasures on it.

I have more plans for Hayden's room (I have a little shelf to paint and mount on the wall, for one thing), but for now I'm very pleased with how it turned out. :)

A few of my BFC Inks, 2 Liv dolls, and my Karito Kids doll Elena are hanging out on top of her room.

Belle, Robby, Tiana, Rapunzel, and Eugene are temporarily staying in Maggie and Rachel's old room.  This won't be their permanent home, but it works for now.

Oh, and for those of you who are curious, my dad's been super busy and hasn't had a chance to work on the other two doll rooms yet.  It's okay, though.  I'm making do just fine for now. :)  I really appreciate all of the work he put into the first one, too.

Maggie, Rachel and Jenna also have a temporary home in Tess and Hailey's room (Maggie is quite annoyed that she has to live in a room with Tangled, Hello Kitty, and Jane Austen posters!).  The reason for the change is that I found the blue star bed on the left on Craigslist for $25! :D  It included all of the original bedding and the trundle bed underneath.  I don't remember the actual name (and I'm too lazy to look it up right now), but it is a retired American Girl bed. :)

Lissie and Sam, hanging out. ;)

A couple of my boxed Belle dolls and some of my loose ones are now up on top of the shelf in the corner.  Sorry I haven't gotten her review up yet, but at least you can take a little peek at 2012 Belle. ;)

My singing Rapunzel doll, chillin' next to my two Disney tins from Goodwill (they store extra doll accessories).

And here's the other side of the room.

I moved this curio cabinet all by myself.  Amazingly, I didn't break anything in the process. :}

The curio holds my Boyds Bears on the top shelf and my Beauty and the Beast goodies on the other shelves.

My 4 other BFC Inks and my Hearts 4 Hearts Nahji are on top.

Meanwhile, Tess, Hailey, Emma, and Charlie are currently sharing the top of the dresser.  As you can see, Tess and Hailey really got the short end of deal.  All they ended up with was Tess's curio, a chair, and a small dresser.  Sorry girls...it won't be this way forever! ;)

Here are Emma and Charlie with their beds and shelf unit.  Rontu says hi, by the way. :)

And I now have a ginormous bookshelf by my side of the bed (which is why there's an alarm clock on the bottom shelf...I had to put it somewhere!). ;)

Happiness is a shelf full of good books. ;)

The remainder of my boxed Belle dolls, along with my Pizza Hut puppet collection and my rose from the Broadway production (but the one in San Francisco, not New York). ;)

I also worked a ton on the girls' playroom.  Boy, did it need it!  I'm very happy with how it turned out, though.  I think the girls will find it very convenient for play. :)

Here's a view from right beside the door.

The girls' doll room displays (after seeing Mommy's doll rooms, they really wanted some of their own!).  My parents were getting rid of this fabulous desk at our yard sale, and when it didn't sell I snagged it.  I love it because it has great storage space underneath (as you can see).

Little Gal's dolls are on the left, and Middle Gal's dolls on the right.

And here's Oldest Gal's part of the room.

And speaking of storage, we use the cabinet underneath Oldest Gal's doll room as a stable for the horses. :)

This little nightstand holds doll clothes in the drawers, and provides a little sitting room for the dolls as well.  The rectangular thing by the couch is a pretend window they made today...we'll be hanging it up between the fridge and the couch later.

This trunk has the girls' dress-up clothes in it, and the two pink cubes have shoes, wands, and other accessories.

We use this plastic drawer unit to organize their toys.  Hmm...I still need to re-label the drawers!

This shelf works great for toy organization, too.

The stuffed animal and doll tub.

This dresser holds Oldest Gal and Middle Gal's clothes.  The shelf on top has books and the girls' breakable collection.

This yellow dresser is next to the door and holds Little Gal's clothing.

This was a special poster given to me by a friend of my parents' when I was 6 years old.  She worked at Disneyland at the time, and this poster was only available to Disneyland employees.  I'm hoping to eventually move it to the girls' bedroom, which has reds and yellows as its theme.  I even have a cute porcelain Snow White doll to go with it! :)

The Barbie sized dolls are stored in a shoe hanging storage thingee on the back of the door.  Apparently, we need to once again stress the importance of fully dressing everyone before they get put away (I had to turn Cinderella around so she wasn't flashing everyone).

I just had to take a closer pic of this..I was completely cracking up when I saw it.  Poor guy...he's had better days.  Such is the life of a doll who belongs to a 4 year old. ;)  His friend seems to be a bit sympathetic.  He's probably had his own upside down days. ;)

That's all for now.  Just thought I'd let you know that I haven't been idle these past couple of days.  Plus, I always enjoy seeing how other people set up their rooms, so I thought you might enjoy seeing mine.   I'll get to the promised reviews as soon as I can, but I've got a bit on my plate the next few days, so you might have to wait for a bit. ;)

Sigh.  Now if only the rest of the house was as clean as my bedroom and the playroom. :}

Thanks! :) Now I've got to tackle the rest of the house. You know how it is. Every time you rearrange furniture, other furniture and items have to find new homes. It's like a giant puzzle. ;)

I love the room! The poster with Snow White is to cute I want one! How long did this take, and any suggestions for a tween Disney princes room? ;) Cause I want a room with Disney Princesses without their faces plastered everywhere.

I know exactly how you feel! But the result is totally worth it.

Wow! Just, wow! And here I was all proud of my little Dollcave corner, lol.

I do salute your husband and his tolerance of the dolls - I know my husband was happy when we got a spare room and he didn't have little vinyl people staring at him while he changed. :D

Also, is that a Princess Celestia mini-pony? Where did you find it? I know Pieface would be over the moon if she had a Celestia in her pony collection. Ah, the things we do for kids!

Thanks, everyone! :)

All AG, if you don't want a room with Disney Princesses plastered all over it but still want a princessy theme, you might try finding art or accents that will bring the princesses to mind, like a slipper for Cinderella, or a rose for Belle. And of course, you can never go wrong with lots of sparkle! ;) You might check around local stores and see what you can find. :) Hope this gives you a good starting point!

Jen, I love your doll cave! (And perhaps deep down my Hubby wishes I had one too!). ;)

Hee hee, I totally have to remind myself that they're just dolls when I'm in there, so I can understand your husband's discomfort. ;)

The pony on the far left is one of the Princess Celestias from McDonald's a couple of years ago (she's the perfect scale for the blind bag ponies). The other pony that looks like her and is the same size as the blind bag ponies is Princess Cadance from Season 2's finale, "A Canterlot Wedding" (best episode EVER, except it completely freaked out my youngest, even with the scariest parts fast-forwarded!). She was in a set with Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor. I found them on Amazon, but the only set I found there currently doesn't have a picture (which always makes me a bit nervous). You can find them on eBay if you search "my little pony shining armor" in Toys and Games. Hope this helps! :)

Wow, and I thought I had a lot of doll stuff! Yours is so nicely organized now and so much fun for you and your daughters! I recently received a little Nahji too. I think she's so sweet and a great addition because play dolls about India are rare.

Omg! I just bought the new Belle doll with a 25% discount! I'm so happy I wanted to share it with you. I haven't got the time to unbox her.

Hannah Prewett (beastsbelle) said...

Thanks, beachbabydoll1. My girls and I do have a lot of fun with our dolls. :) And congratulations on your Nahji! She's a real cutie. :)

Elliebob, that is a boy BFC Ink. His name is CJ, and you can find him on Amazon.com (and eBay every once in a great while). I'm not very impressed with his hair (he's very Justin Bieber-ish), but he has a nice face. I'm thinking of trying to rewig him eventually. :)

Congratulations, MulanFan! :D You'll have to tell me what you think of her. I'm hoping to get my review up today. :)

Cool! Love the setup. And did I spy a new bed for Charlie? It's adorable!

Hannah Prewett (beastsbelle) said...

Thanks! :) Yup, the girls and I did some trading around a while back, and I ended up with the doll bed that Little Gal was using. I believe it's one of the older versions of the Our Generation beds. :)

I love seing your daughters dolls! They are so cute! Did your girls set them up themselves? Oh! I know something your daughters would love! Ella (my little cousin) and I did this. We took some photos of each of our dolls and wrote a paragraph about each of them. (Likes, dislikes, personalities...) I bet your kids would love it!!!

Hannah Prewett (beastsbelle) said...

Thanks, Eileen. It was fun to give them to the girls. I actually set them up this time, but the girls are great at setting them up too. :)

They've done similar projects with the likes, dislikes, and personalities after seeing what I did on my "Meet the Dolls" page, but it might be about time to try it again. ;)
