Here's a picture of the box...oh, the suspense! :)
And here's a hint...can you guess who it is by the braid?
That's right, it's MIA!! :) At least, that was her former name. She is now Charlotte Nora Hathaway, or Charlie for short. :)
It took me a long time to decide whether or not I'd rename her. Normally, I'm the type that names dolls the name they came with. But I have no attachment to the Mia stories. The main reason I liked her was because I loved her hair and eyes and freckles. :) Then I thought how fun it would be to come up with another name and personality for her. Her first name is after a close family member, her middle name is after Nora Demington (the renamed Mia doll who writes "The Doll Wardrobe" blog and gave me Emma) :), and her last name I got from Anne Hathaway, the actress. I love her acting and enjoy watching her CLEAN movies. :} Unfortunately, there are less and less of those in recent years. I just liked the way the name flowed, though.
So here are some more pics of Charlie:
She has such a pretty face!! I especially love her freckles. Her eyes do appear to be a bit on the uneven side, but she's still beautiful. :)
This next pic shows why I was able to afford her...she has a major problem with her right eye. Eventually (when I've saved enough) she'll take a trip to the AG doll hospital for eye surgery. The nice thing is that her eye will stay in place if you push it up manually.
Other than her bad eye, she is in excellent shape! Her limbs are nice and tight, as you can see from this pic:
Her original braid is still in. Although it's beautiful, I may eventually take it out. Some of the hairs going into the braid are starting to pull out of it. It's going to be hard to keep her hair neat if I keep the braid in. I haven't decided yet.
Here are some pics after I brushed through her hair and changed her into some of my doll clothes:
Okay, I know some of those were really similar, but she's so photogenic, it's hard to decide which pics to use. :)
Charlie will be my last 18" doll for a while. I'm going to be getting rid of a few dolls in the coming month, too. It's gotten to the point where my doll collection is a little overwhelming. I want to get it back down to a manageable number. :) I'm not sure what I'll tell Tess and Maggie yet (don't worry, they'll be among the dolls that stay). I'm also reworking a few of my dolls' background stories. Some names might change and some personalities might combine. It's all still in the rough stages right now. Just wanted to give a "head's up" for those of you that follow Tess and Maggie's blog. :)
Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to keep checking back for more posts with the adorable Charlie. I'm sure there will be several posts with our newest member on Tess and Maggie's blog, too, so I'll be sure to keep you posted. :)
Congrats! I got Mia for Christmas last year, and I LOVE her. As for her braid, I've just re-braided it. Yes, it is kind of hard to keep neat, but it's worth it to keep it in. :)
ReplyDeleteShe's GORGEOUS. I have always wanted Mia because she's so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHi girls! Thanks for the comments. :) Thanks for the tip on Charlie's braid, Nutti Netti. I'll keep it in mind. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you like her, Gabrielle. Mia's always been one of my very favorites, too. She's got such a unique hair and eye combination...and of course her freckles are so cute!! :)
You said you are planning to cut down the doll collection, totally understandable. When you do, are you going to tell us where your dolls are available for sale? Your girls are really cute and I might be interested.
ReplyDeleteHi Korianne,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments! :) I'll definitely let you all know when I'm ready to sell. I'll put at least one doll on eBay and I may possibly list one on the AGplaythings message board, but I haven't decided yet. It may only come down to two or three dolls that I actually sell. One I may give away, and two I'm still deciding about. It's so hard, especially after watching the Toy Story movies...I feel like I'm breaking up family! :} I know that's silly, but that's the way I feel. :}
Congrats on Charlie! I love my Mia - they're so photogenic, aren't they? :) I may rename my Mia too; I'm not sure yet.
ReplyDeleteThey're amazingly photogenic! It was actually pics of Mia from girls like AGsisters on youtube that made me fall in love with Mia in the first place! :) I was so excited when you got Mia for Christmas. You'll have to let me know what name you decide on if you rename her. :)
ReplyDeleteIt was AGsisters pictures that made me fall for Mia, too. I feel guilty when a day goes by where Mia hasn't had her picture taken. :) If I rename her, I'm thinking that her new name would be Victoria Madelyn Carter if I renamed her, but I'm still unsure yet - I'm not entirely sure if she wants her name changed or not. I'll keep you posted!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a beautiful name! Make sure she really wants a name change, though. I'm hoping Charlie's okay with her name change...I keep on accidentally calling her Mia! :}
ReplyDeleteI love Mia! I'm so glad she found a home with you. I love all the changes that you make to the dolls.
ReplyDeleteSusan
Thanks, Susan! I'm having way too much fun. :)
ReplyDeleteWish i had an american girl, they all look so gorgeous! Congrats on getting Mia ( aka Charlie ) She really is a beauty! If you need to take out her braid to experiment some hairstyles i have seen a video at youtube at howto redo Mia's braid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0DSBnjyGO0
ReplyDeleteThanks, DisneyWorksGirl. Charlie remains one of my very favorite dolls to this day. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the video on her braid. I actually had an AGPlaythings member take it out and steam it for me. I liked having the option of having her hair down, and it looked kinda funny with all of the waves from the braid. ;) It's nice having the reference for how to redo it, though. ;)
