Happy Palm Sunday! :)

I meant to post this earlier in the day, but between church and my daughter's birthday lunch today (not to mention her party yesterday), it was a bit of a crazy day! :}

Over 2,000 years ago today, a Jewish Carpenter rode into Jerusalem on a donkey.  A seemingly insignificant event by the world's standards.  The crowd laid their coats on the ground to make a path before Him.  The children waved palm branches and shouted, "Hosanna!"  The atmosphere was festive and exciting.

Yet a little less than a week later, the celebration would turn to anger.  Instead of a happy crowd, our Lord would be surrounded by a vicious mob.  Shouts of "Crucify Him!" would ring out for all to hear.  The plan of God to save mankind would be fulfilled.  The Son of God would be killed for the sins of the world.

This time of year is so important for those of us who are followers of Christ.  Without His death for us, without His resurrection, we would have no hope.  Our faith would be futile.  My prayer is that in the midst of the chocolate, bunnies, and Easter egg hunts, we would remember the true reason that we celebrate Easter:  the sacrificial death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
