One of the Disney Store's more recent products is their line of mini Disney Princess dolls. They are between 5 and 6 inches tall and are miniature versions of the bigger Barbie-sized dolls. You can buy them in sets of 4 with just the dolls, or you can buy one of the 4 mini doll play sets. These include one doll, some accessories, and some friends.
Here are some pics of the 2 sets of 4 dolls:
Here are the 2 mini doll play sets I did not purchase, Ariel and Cinderella:
And now, here are some pics I took of the two mini play sets I bought. I chose the Rapunzel and Belle sets.
Here they are still in the package. I like how the inside of the box contains scenery from the movie. :)
Okay, so Rapunzel first. Overall, I was really impressed with her...although her eyes could have been painted a little better. See how the one on the left has white under it? It also seems to not be looking in quite the same direction as the right eye. Pretty small complaints, though, especially considering how small the doll is.
Just like my bigger Rapunzel, this doll has iridescent strands in her hair, making it look like the magic glowing hair from the movie. :)
My only other complaint with this set was that the paintbrush was bent because of the way they attached it to her hand with a tiny rubber band.
Here's the entire set.
I loved her easel, paint palette, and potted plants.
Here's her chair, mini topiary, and extra dress.
Look how cute mini Pascal is! His paint job is waayy better than the Mattel Pascals that come in the mini play sets.
Emma likes Pascal, too! :)
Here's Emma, enjoying her new stuff.
I decided to remove the gaudy freckles from mini Rapunzel's face, just like I did for my full-sized Disney Store Rapunzel doll. Wow...it was a lot harder than doing the bigger doll! I had to use a very small amount of the acetone-free nail polish remover, because if it dribbled at all, Rapunzel could have lost her eyes or lips or eyebrows! Because I had to use such a small amount, I had to do a lot of scrubbing. Unfortunately, most of her cheek blush came off, too.
I'm still pleased with the final result, though. :)
Emma and Rapunzel.
The next set was Belle's. I really liked this set, too, although it only came with 8 extra things instead of 10 like Rapunzel's set. :) The detail on the table and tea cart were pretty amazing.
Here are Mrs. Potts and Chip on the tea cart. I'm a little disappointed that they forgot to paint Chip's nose!
The lovely pink and white cake and Lumiere. His paint job isn't terrible, but I think it could be better...especially his eyes.
Belle's pink dress.
Mini Belle looks identical to my bigger Belle doll.
My main complaint with this set is that they used rubber bands to keep her shoes on, and they left pretty major marks on her ankles. Ouch!!!
I love her pretty curl in the back.
Emma tries out her new Belle play set.

One fun thing about these dolls is they're just the right size for AG dolls to hold.
I thought you might also like to see a size comparison to the mini AG dolls. As you can see, they will NOT be able to exchange clothes. ;)
Overall, I think I'd give these sets a 9 out of 10. The point off is for the paintbrush, the tight rubber bands on Belle's legs, and the quality of the dresses, which in my opinion could be better.
Hope you enjoyed the post. All of these play sets are still available at Disneystore.com.
Very cute! I love for my dolls to have their own toys too.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure my granddaughter would love these, as she love tiny things and Polly Pocket, etc. Rapunzel is her favorite.
Thanks, Bama. I just couldn't resist these cuties. Rapunzel is one of my favorites, too (not that you couldn't tell that from my blog or anything). ;)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Lucy might like one of those at some point. (Though now I'm wishing it was possible to mix-and-match the 4-pack of dolls - a Super Princess Team of Belle, Rapunzel, Tiana, and Mulan would be killer!)
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. That's actually why I went for the individuals. I was trying to figure out how to get 1 I wanted and give each of my girls one. But my daughter's faves are Cinderella, Snow White, and my oldest likes Belle and Mulan. I just couldn't quite get it to work. :)
ReplyDeleteRapunzel is in my top princesses too. :) Are your little girls itching to get their hands on them? :) Haha! I wish I had more toys for my AG dolls.
ReplyDeleteThe girls have definitely been eyeing them, but they're really good about not playing with "Mommy's toys". ;) They love to come in my room and look at everything, though.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Lest you think they are poor, deprived children, don't worry. They have plenty of their own toys! :)
Oh! I know! :) I love to look at my mom's things. I really love the Rapunzel set! It's soooooo cute. I will have to look into them. :)
ReplyDelete:) I'd highly recommend them.
ReplyDeleteOk! I will really look at them. :) Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. :)
ReplyDeleteThey are the perfect size of a 12 inch scale for dolls
ReplyDeleteYou may be able to straighten out Rapunzel's paintbrush with the old hot/cold water trick. Immerse the brush in boiling water (take care not to burn yourself) to soften the plastic, remove it, bend it straight, then immediately plunge it into cold water to "fix" the new, straightened shape into place.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip, Mark! :)
