Some New Clothes for Katelyn (My BFC Ink Doll) :)

Ever since I found my undressed BFC Ink doll (you can read more about that HERE), my mom has been on the lookout for clothing for her.  I did have a sundress that fit her, but it was a lot shorter than I would prefer.

A few weeks ago, my mom was at Salvation Army and found an adorable dress for around $3 that looked like it would fit.  She brought it over and we tried it.  I'm absolutely thrilled with the results. :)

Obviously, this isn't a current "trendy" style, but I like it.  It makes her look soft and feminine. :)

The layered skirt is very pretty and nice and long.

I love how the print of the fabric ended up matching the shoes I already had for her, too! :)

Not only that, but the greens in the fabric really compliment her pretty green eyes.

Back view.  The dress closes in the back with 3 tiny buttons.

Beautiful Katelyn. :)

Not long after this discovery, my mom was in Kmart, and they had an extra percentage off of their clearance priced toys.  Mom noticed that they had the BFC Ink "Sun N Fun" swimwear set on clearance.  It was already marked down to $5.00, but by the time the extra discount was applied, mom ended up paying about $2! :)  She's the best at finding good deals!

I so appreciate that they went for a more modest look with this swimsuit.  I don't care for bikinis, and I wasn't too impressed with the swimsuits that the fully jointed dolls come with due to the amount of "skin" showing.  I think this is a much better swimwear option.

The shoulder straps are made of ribbon.  If you plan on purchasing this for a younger girl, I don't know how long the ribbon would last.  You may have to have a plan B in place, just in case. ;)

The swimsuit has Velcro closure in the back.  The bottoms just slide on.  I loved that it was actually made from swimsuit material.

It also came with this cute coordinating rash guard.  Even nicer on the modesty scale!  I'd love to find some matching board shorts somewhere. :)

The set included this cute see-through beach bag and towel.

I had to laugh when I took the towel out of the packaging.  It's really more like a glorified washrag.  The picture didn't capture it the way I wanted it to.  Let's just say I don't think Katelyn would be very dry after her swim. ;)  I mean, it looks more like a waiter's napkin than a towel!

Overall, I was very pleased with my mom's finds.  I think Katelyn looks much better in these outfits than in the orange sundress. :}

  2. I would have to agree that these outfits look much nicer on Katelyn. And I love the fact that the swimsuit is one piece instead of a bikini (bikinis are big no-nos in my book). :) The dress your mom found is adorable, too! :)

  3. Thanks, Claire. :) Yeah, I'm not a fan of bikinis myself. Aside from the modesty issue, I just like going swimming without constantly thinking about how I look. I do that enough in a regular swimsuit! ;)

  4. I love the dress and really like the swimsuit for the same reasons you stated. Your mom is a rockstar shopper! :o)

    Merry Christmas!

  6. Cute finds! I'm glad to see they went for the tankini look. I don't have anything against bikinis in theory, but they look weird on any doll that isn't a Barbie. (Especially soft-bodied dolls like AG - the dissonance between the vinyl limbs and cloth body just looks silly!)

I found the BFC fairy costume for $5 at my local Meijer, and picked it up for The Pie's toddler Rapunzel. If nothing else, she'll have fun with the wings!

  7. Hi Jen!

Oh, I totally agree with you on AGs in bikinis!! :} For a while, I even had a hard time with AGs in sundresses! I've adapted to it in recent years, though. ;)

I'm sure Pie will love her fairy costume. What a great bargain, too! :)

  9. i have to say i've never really liked any dolls other than barbie and american girl doll but i really love this doll. Even though it isnt a current style i adore the dress. I just started sewing and i sewed an older style dress for my kanani doll and it looks darling on her. I will definetely be looking into these dolls.

  10. Hi Claire! I didn't do Christmas Barbies this year (for the first time in about 5 years!) because I only do them locally, and I think I've worn out my customer base. ;) Maybe another year.

Hi Savanah! Don't worry about your long comments...I always enjoy them. :)

There's something about the BFC Ink dolls that makes them stand out to me, too. I especially like their faces.

I'm glad you're enjoying my blogs. Merry Christmas to you and your family, too. :)

  11. Sadly, the BFC fairy costume didn't fit! It was fine until I tried to close it, then Baby Rapunzel's chubby little toddler belly was a bit too big. :/

(Pie's aunt and uncle got her the Disney Store Rapunzel and Flynn, too - my wig brush has been getting a workout! XD)

  12. Oh, I'm sorry Jen! What a disappointment! :( I hope Pie was okay.

Yeah, your wig brush will have its work cut out for it with Rapunzel's hair! ;)
