Hey guys! This week has ended up being really crazy...sorry for the lack of posts. Thanks to The Doll Wardrobe and Phoebe for awarding me with the Versatile Blogger award. :D I hope to get that post up soon, along with the others that I've had waiting on the back burner.
Yesterday was really fun. Hubby and I actually got to get away for a bit for the first time in over a month. :) My mom was really sweet and watched the kiddos while we went to see a movie together. It was so much fun...it felt like we were dating again. :)
Today, I'll be visiting with out of town family, so I won't have much computer time. Just wanted to let you guys know that I hadn't forgotten you. :)
Oh, and I'll let Belle, Maggie, and Tess know that they need to get a post or two up soon as well. ;)
How fun! What movie did you go see? :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to more of your lovely posts! :)
~M
Glad you got some nice time with your husband! I know what it's like to have a crazy house...I have three younger siblings! :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your out-of-town family! :)
Thanks for the comments! :) Just got home from a lovely visit with family. We had a wonderful time together. :D
ReplyDeleteM, we saw "The Hunger Games". I really enjoyed it...Hubby didn't exactly think it was a waste of time, but he wasn't overly impressed either. I've not read the books or anything, and I'd like to think it over and perhaps see it again before deciding whether or not I would recommend it (just because I was watching it for my own enjoyment, not with a review in mind). ;)
Talk to you guys soon! :)
We saw "The Hunger Games", too! Since you having read the books yet (I've read them...many times over) ;), I would recommend doing so because it gives you better understanding of the characters than the movie did. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Claire. I'd definitely like to read the books to get a fuller picture of the storyline and get a better understanding of where the author was coming from.
ReplyDeleteI especially appreciated Peeta's character. I think he was a large part of what made the movie so enjoyable for me. I've heard you get a lot more detail about him in the books, too, which is another reason that I want to read them.
I don't know how soon I'll be reading them...there's a huge waiting list for all of the books at our local library, and I'm not sure I want to buy them before I know whether or not I'll like them. :}
Peeta's my favorite, too - and you're right on what you've heard, there's much more depth to his character in the books. It's so nice to see strong, sacrificial characters in modern literature as opposed to, say, Twilight (which I've never read, nor have I had strong feelings to read it, either).
ReplyDeleteI don't know what your feelings would be on the books, but I hope you can read them soon...I would definitely place your name on the waiting list at the library soon before the list grows even longer! :)
Thanks for the info. :) And may I say that it's nice to hear of someone else who's not starry-eyed over Twilight? ;)
ReplyDeletePeeta's loyalty and sacrificial love were the things that I really appreciated about him. :) I agree that it's great to see these qualities in modern literature...they tend to be few and far between!
By the way, I haven't forgotten your "Why I'm a Stay-at-Home Mom" post...I promise! :} I'm hoping to get to it soon. :)
(Last time I'll comment today, I promise!) ;) Yes! I'm not the only one who isn't the only non-Twilight girl out there! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Suzanne Collins' characters, especially Katniss and Peeta, because they aren't all "oh, we're in love, love is more important than our safety and" like Edward and Bella, but instead they both fight to keep one another alive. Seeing these qualities depicted in one of the most popular trends right now is making me especially excited because there haven't been many good, moral, strong characters in modern literature in the past few years. (Yes, Twilight, I'm looking you sternly in the eye as I say this.)
I think you may have the wrong Claire...I believe you have another commenter with the same name who requested a post about being a stay-at-home mom. :) (It's sort of like that in my real life, too...I have a friend whose name is very similar to mine and we get mixed up frequently!) But nevertheless I'll look forward to that anyway because my mom is mostly a stay-at-home mom and I'd like to see that perspective of things. :)
Lol...don't worry Claire. I love comments, even if they're from the same people. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat insights on Twilight and Hunger Games. :)
I'm sorry I got you mixed up! I knew that I had 2 Claires...I just forgot that it was the other Claire that requested the post. Oops! :} It's hard to keep everyone straight sometimes! ;)
I like the Hunger Games too. I haven't read the Twilight books and don't plan on ever reading them, so now there's 3! And beastsbelle, I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. You can check out my blog for more information, pawstreesandag.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Lissie. Yikes, that's 3 nominations now! I really need to get my act together and do that thank you post! :}
