Pictures and Other Randomness

Hi everyone!  Hope you're all enjoying a wonderful week.  We've been blessed with a couple of overcast days and cooler weather, so my week has been fantastic!  Anything to escape the already overly-hot, summery weather. ;)

Because overcast days are so perfect for pictures, I took Charlie and Rontu a few places for some photo shoots.  I'm still working on my final entry for The Doll Wardrobe's photo contest, and I think yesterday I may have nailed it. :)

I thought I'd share a couple of the "just because" pictures I took, too:

These are not entry photos, but it gives you an idea of the beautiful lighting I had to work with. :)  I'm very pleased with the results of the day.  I also discovered that it's much easier to do a doll photo shoot in public when you have your 5 year old daughter with you. :}  You don't get the same crazy looks. ;)

I am determined to get back on a better schedule with my blogging, and now that I'm officially caught up with Doctor Who, I think I will find it a lot easier to manage my time. ;)  Yes, I did watch all seven seasons in the space of a month, and yes, I do realize that's slightly obsessive. :}  Apparently, I'm not the only one, though. Exhibit A:

Anyway, I plan on getting back into the swing of things this week.  Posts to look forward to include a Doctor Who review (as requested), a post sharing some of my latest thrift store finds, several doll reviews, and more.  I'll be back soon! :)

  1. Love the pictures!

And LOL about allll the seasons in one month...hahaaaaa. You've probably seen the other pin that's like, something to the effect of "you can't watch just one." Heheee. :) I saw it in about two months...the only reason it took longer was that I waited several weeks before seeing Doomsday and Journey's End...just because I knew what was going to happen and I didn't want it to happen. :)

  2. I was hoping I'd hear from you, Alexandra! ;) You were one of the first to make me start wondering what all of this "Doctor Who" stuff was all about. I don't think I'd go as far as to say that I'm a full "Whovian", but I did enjoy most of the series (I loved the characters...I'm not such a fan of the creepy aliens). :}

Lol, I've seen that pin too. In fact, I was trying to find that pin instead (at least, I think it was that one), but after getting sidetracked on Pinterest for half an hour, I decided I'd just stick with the one I had. ;)

By the way, I've been enjoying your Doctor Who boards on Pinterest. I finally caved and started a Doctor Who board myself.

Oh, Doomsday and Journey's End...sob!! I even knew what was coming and I still bawled like a baby! The End of Time was tough for me, too, especially the Doctor and Wilf at the cafe. :(

I've been trying to collect my thoughts and figure out how to summarize 7 seasons in one post. :} It may take a while.

Have a great week! So good to hear from you, as always. :)

  3. The same thing happened to me. I started watching Doctor Who because of one of my friend's Pinterest boards. I watched all the seasons super fast and started a board of my own! lol I do have to say I prefer the David Tennant episodes to the Matt Smith ones but I'm liking the new companion Clara very much.

  4. Awesome photos!! I love Charlie's outfit. :)
That's so cool that you're into Doctor Who! I got into about half a year ago and am a complete Whovian now. ;) Do you have a favorite Doctor? Mine is Matt Smith, he's a great actor. Oh and do you have a favorite companion? My favorite companions are probably Amy and Rory.

  5. Oh, I love these pictures so much! As I tweeted to you earlier, Charlie is one of my favorites of your 18-inch girls; I think she's so sweet and spunky in appearance. I realize that she's only a renamed GOTY Mia, but the way you built her personal style around her new character is what I find so special. :)

I feel I've been waiting too awfully long to finally become interested in Doctor Who. I've been acquaintances with some fans for years and had enough idea of the synopsis to have started watching at any time, but I somehow haven't been able to make myself. I've sort of noticed that the series is more recognized in the US than ever before, so I've wondered if it may be a worthwhile investment to start following now (from what I've read, there's very little blatantly inappropriate content to it and the characters are very easy to love).

I'm suddenly looking very forward to your review and hope I'll be fully convinced after giving it a good read! ;)

  6. Hi Aileen! I noticed you repinned a few of my Doctor Who pins, so I assumed you were a fan too. ;) What actually finally got me started in earnest was a few of the clips my aunt played for me. :) Other bloggers such as Alexandra, Kellie from Accordion to Kellie, and Natasha Marie from Day by Day piqued my interest and made me wonder about the series in the first place, though. :)

Thanks, Priya. My favorite Doctor is the Tenth Doctor, but I like Eleven too. I enjoy all of the companions, but my favorites are probably Rose, Amy and Rory. :)

Thanks, Katherine. I really love Charlie too. I borrowed her nickname and certain aspects of her personality from one of my sister-in-laws, so that makes her even more special. :) Coming up with a unique personality for each of my dolls is one of my favorite things about doll collecting. :)

In regards to Doctor Who, it's relatively clean compared to a lot of stuff that's out there, but I do have a couple of issues with the content that I'll share in my review. After seeing the whole thing, I do understand why people love it so much, though. The writing and acting are excellent, and without even meaning to you end up falling in love with the characters. :)

  7. Ack! For some reason, my Blogger dashboard has not wanted to acknowledge that you have been updating for the past two months, so I have a lot to catch up on!

I see you have also fallen down the rabbit hole that is Doctor Who! I suppose now is not the time to suggest delving into the 50 years of TV episodes and tie-in novels and comics and audio-plays that make up Old School and Middle School Who, yes? :D

    (I haven't either, don't feel bad. :D)

Looking forward to your review post!

  8. Hi Jen! Great to hear from you. Sorry Blogger is being uncooperative. ;) Hopefully it won't take you too long to catch up. :)

Yes, that's exactly how it feels. In fact, I feel like I've just crawled OUT of the rabbit hole. Back to reality! ;) I now find myself saying "Brilliant" in a British accent and staring suspiciously at angel statues. ;)

And no, I don't think I'll delve any further at this point. I'm content with just watching the new stuff, even though I know I'm missing significant things from seasons past. I really don't need to get into the comic books, either. I do want to find a Tenth Doctor action figure (for a reasonable price) sometime down the road, though. ;)

  9. Hahaha I'm with you, Dr. Who is obsessive. And offically River Song *cough* is the best character besides the Doctor. My #56 is going to be customized to be her. :)

  10. Cool!! I'm actually one of the who doesn't like David Tennant but prefers Matt Smith. :)

  11. Hi All AG. At first, I wasn't sure what to think of River Song, but she definitely grew on me the more I watched. :) How fun that you're making a custom doll of her!

Wow, Priya, I think that's a first for me. So many people love David Tennant (myself included). It took me a while to warm up to Matt because I liked Ten so much, but I think he brought a lot to the character too. I love his relationship with Amy and Rory. :)

  12. Don't feel bad! I have tried and tried to watch Old School Who, and just can't get into it. The most I've done is listen to the Eighth Doctor's run of the Big Finish Audio Adventures at my last job (where no one cared if I had my earbuds in all day). Thanks to that, Paul McGann is my favorite Doctor - that gets me a lot of weird looks from people, because the 1996 DW TV-movie is terrible! But McGann is a delightful Doctor in a bad show.

(I will join Priya in saying that I prefer Matt Smith over David Tennant - in fact, I think Tennant is my least favorite Doctor thus far! He's a great actor, but I didn't like how they wrote his character. Different strokes, I guess!)

And now I will stop nerding out about a TV show all over your doll blog, lol!

  13. I always find it so fascinating to see what appeals to different people when it comes to an actor's portrayals of a character. I've never seen the 8th Doctor (although I think I've seen Paul McGann in at least one period drama), so I can't really say whether he appeals to me or not. I do enjoy Matt Smith's portrayal, but I have to say, there's something about David Tennant's performance that I just love. The way he rambles reminds me of one of my former bosses. He'd come out all excited about something and go into this huge explanation about it, and by the time he was through, I had glazed over with factoid overload. ;) My boss wasn't quite as animated as David, but it still makes me think of him with fondness. :)

    And I know this is silly, but Ten's hair and facial expressions are a big part of the appeal for me. :}

Anywho, like I said, I love hearing what makes different people choose a specific actor over another. It makes our world much more interesting when we like different things. ;)

And feel free to nerd out whenever...I don't mind. ;)
