The week has been full and busy, but really fun. I thought I'd share some of the pictures from our day trip this past Wednesday. Most of the pics I took had people in them, so I won't be sharing those here. :)
It's always fun getting to spend time with Hubby's family at their special camp/resort. I love seeing their faces as they relive old memories together. We've gone there enough now since our marriage that I've started to make memories of my own there, so that's been great. :) It would be an awesome place to go and write (lots of "scope for the imagination", as Anne of Green Gables would say). ;)
Charlie and Rontu came along to enjoy the great outdoors with us. This picture was taken right beside the spot we stopped for lunch.
One of the highlights of our trip was hiking up to see one of the swimming holes that is part of the beautiful river that flows through the camp (although it feels more like a creek).
Buttershy and Mermalade had a great time exploring.
Mermalade always feels very at home near the water. :)
It was an absolutely gorgeous day. I couldn't stop snapping pictures of the scenery around us. :)
The little girls waded in the shallow parts (Little Gal got in a little too deep once, but Aunt C was quick to rescue her before any damage was done), and the bigger girls (Oldest Gal and her cousins) spent their time swimming and jumping off of the huge rock that jutted out over the swimming hole (yes, we checked the depth first). ;) Most of the adults jumped off the rock, too. I did not. ;) I actually didn't plan on swimming, but decided I would go ahead and swim in my clothes at the end of the afternoon because I didn't feel like climbing on the sharp, pointy rocks that surrounded one side of the swimming hole again. ;) The only problem was, I had my camera, my truck keys with electronic buttons, and my two Zelfs with me. My brother-in-law solved this by offering to get them back to shore for me. He hung one of the key rings from my keys around one finger, held the Zelfs and the camera firmly in the same hand, and swam all the way across the swimming hole with one arm held high above his head. I would have loved to get a picture...but he was holding my camera. ;}
After our long afternoon, we had a tailgate party in the parking area before heading into the "General Store" at the entrance of the resort, and then home.
Buttershy and Mermalade sneak into the package of P's "Energy Bites", a yummy snack with peanut butter, chocolate chips, and I think flax seed or something else healthy. ;) They're AMAZING. :)
We had a really fun time together Wednesday, and made more fun memories to cherish in years to come. :)
School starts again on Monday, so things might be a little crazy around here for a while. I already have a post scheduled for the end of next week, though, so you're guaranteed to hear from me at least once. ;)
Have a great week next week, everyone! :)
Hi! Awesome pictures! Your a great photographer. I like to take photos too, but I’ll never be as good as you :)
ReplyDeleteAnd what brand of toy is Rontu? He’s so cute and photogenic!
Lol, never say never, Anonymous! You should look at some of my first posts and see how far my photography has come in four years. ;) Keep practicing, and you just might surprise yourself with how good you get. ;)
ReplyDeleteRontu is actually American Girl Kaya's dog Tatlo renamed. :) I named him after the wild dog in "Island of the Blue Dolphins". :)
What a lovely trip! Is it too much of me to ask what state is this? Hubby keeps telling me he wants to visit a place "with tall woods and scenery like in the first Rambo movie". As far as I know, parts of New England and Canada fit that description, but I'd like to have options :)
ReplyDeleteSooo pretty! The scenery looks a lot like my home here in WA State, just a little drier. Your pictures have made me want to grab my dolls and camera and haul them outside for some woodland photo fun. :D
ReplyDeleteBy the way, where did you get Charlie's boots? I've been looking for some nice AG-sized cowgirl boots but have been unable to find any.
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous photos!
--Kate :)
BlackKitty, we're in Northern California (that's as specific as I'd like to be). ;) We've got lots of beautiful woods and oceans up here...you'll have to come see it sometime. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kate. :) I really love doing outdoor shoots and absolutely love hearing that I've made others want to do the same. ;)
Charlie's boots were a pair I won from The Crazy Doll Lady's store, but I don't think her store is up and running anymore. I have seen similar pairs on eBay, though. These ones look almost identical to Charlie's HERE
Hope this helps! :)
Wow, that swimming hole looks magical and I love how crystal clear the water looks flowing over the stones and pebbles along the floor of the creek. There is just something about creeks in the woods that are so lovely...was the water cold?? Thanks for sharing your day!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to California, but when I think of that state, the sprawling urban centers like San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Fresno, etc. are what immediately spring to my mind, so, it's good to be reminded that there are also many beautiful natural spots like this in the state as well. Gorgeous photography!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to swim, so I'd get nervous taking photos of toys near a body of water like you did, because if they happened to tumble into a deep area, I'd have a heck of a time trying to recover them (I'd end up having to be saved like your youngest daughter, lol).
And, boy, you sure start school early in your neck of the woods; the school children don't go back until the day after Labor Day here in Michigan where I live, although the universities do start a little bit earlier than that.
I love all the Mermalade pictures especially :) I actually don't like a lot of the Zelfs in person for some reason (Mermalade is an exception), but ALL the Zelfs look so cute in your pictures:)
ReplyDeleteWe definitely prefer our area to the bigger cities, although they are fun to visit, especially for doll and toy runs. ;)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy taking outdoor photography in natural lighting. :) It's a good reminder that I need to do it more often! ;)
Lol, thankfully I know how to swim, but it did cross my mind that Buttershy or Mermalade might fall in. That's why I didn't bring Charlie to the swimming hole. I figured the Zelfs could pretty much recover from a dunking. Dropping an AG doll in the water is no picnic. :}
We do start super early. When Hubby and I were going to the same school, we started a week later. It's a little tough starting so early because it really cuts into the summer. Then again, by the end of the summer I'm usually pretty ready for school to begin again, and the girls are eager to see their friends again (just not eager about the schoolwork), so it all works out. :)
Aww, thanks, Manta! :) I love using them for my travel photography because they're so small and easy to take along with me. :)
