Ever since I got my Hearts For Hearts Girls Mosi, I've been wanting to do an outdoor photo shoot. She is such a beautiful, photogenic doll. A couple of days ago, we had a lovely overcast day, perfect for outside piccys. :) I hope you enjoy looking through these as much as I enjoyed taking them! :)
Here are a few that I played around with on ribbet.com to get some fun edited photos:
Beautiful! I love your pictures <3
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that cloudy days are the best for taking photos of toys outdoors, and I find that white, like Mosi’s dress, is difficult to keep from getting oversaturated/washed-out, no matter what light source you use.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, nice photo shoot and Mosi is a lovely model. I particularly liked the images with the effects applied, like the black and white portrait with the red rose and the final image with the subtle shadowy border. I’ve never used, or heard of, ribbet.com; I usually use GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) for all of my photo-editing and artistic needs, which is free software that’s very similar to Adobe Photoshop. It’s a powerful and robust program, but relatively complicated to learn to use (I got a how-to book, on interlibrary loan, when I first installed it on my PC years ago).

Hi Mark! Yeah, whites can be super tricky. Several of the photos I didn't used were washed out from the reflection of the light on Mosi's dress. :}
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the GIMP software...I'll have to check it out! :)
Your photos really highlight Mosi's sweet face. I just love her big, brown eyes. I was so happy to find recently Consuelo at Goodwill, but she has no clothes. My Target carries the dolls, but not the clothes. Do you have recommendations for where to purchase clothes and shoes for the Hearts for Hearts Girls? I don't care if they are brand names.
ReplyDeleteHi Stephanie! Congratulations on finding Consuelo. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of any new lines that are the right size for the Hearts For Hearts Girls, but I've had a lot of success repurposing thrift store doll clothing for them. From porcelain dolls to plastic dolls of the same size, I've been able to find several really cute outfits. I did a post about some of my random clothing finds here (you'll have to copy and paste):

Also, if you ever come across the Gymboree "Gymbelles" rag dolls, a lot of their clothing fits the dolls really well.

Hope this helps! :)
Wow! Love your pics of Mosi, they looks so professional and she has such a cute Was wondering, can a H4H doll's hair be washed, teased, or blow dried? From your pics, it looks like Mosi's hair has been curled because it has a fuller look from the way it originally comes in the box.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anonymous. I had a great time taking these. ;)
ReplyDeleteI would not recommend blow drying H4HG hair. Washing might work as long as too much water didn't get lodged in the head through the hair plug holes, but I wouldn't recommend it unless the doll's hair was dirty and grimy and there was no other choice.
My Mosi came with her hair like this. When she was first released, I bought a Mosi on Amazon.com. She arrived with stringy hair that looked almost greasy and bangs cut all the way above her eyebrows. (You can see a comparison of her next to my current Mosi HERE
Needless to say, I was very disappointed after seeing the beautiful stock photos of her and expecting something better. Then, several months later, I saw this Mosi in my local Target. I was amazed at how much better her hair looked (even when she was still in the package I could tell it was curlier and fuller). I sold my earlier Mosi and bought this one. :)
Because there is such variety from doll to doll, I would highly suggest purchasing a Mosi that you've seen (not just from a site that has a stock photo). Mosi went from being a huge disappointment to my very favorite H4HG doll. :)
