Lala-Pony-Palooza Month: Mini Lalaloopsy Reviews

Before I get started on this post, I just wanted to let all of you know that I added a few things to my previous post about Ashlynn Ella and Hunter Huntsman.  I added pictures of Hunter in Ken clothing (yep, he can wear the current Ken clothes!) and pictures of the two story bookmarks.  Just thought I would let you know in case you'd like to check it out.  Now, back to our regularly scheduled posts. ;)

While my girls and I enjoy the traditionally-sized Lalaloopsies, we are all particularly fond of the mini Lalaloopsies. :)  We love how cute and varied they are.  Their small size makes them the perfect traveling companions.  They're really fun for mini photo shoots, too!

The mini Lalaloopsies are right around 3 inches tall.  Here are two of my Berry Jars 'n Jam Lalas in the traditional and mini sizes so you can get an idea of the difference between the two.

The minis usually sell for between $5 to $7 each.  They can be found at Target, Walmart, Kmart, Toys R Us, and most other places where toys are sold.  There are also several Target exclusive mini Lalas, but I'll talk more about those in a later post.

Another great thing about the mini Lalaloopsies is that they make perfect dolls for 18 inch dolls like American Girl. :)

I thought I'd share a few of the mini Lalas I've purchased in the past and show you how cute they are in their unique packaging. :)

This is Bubbles Smack 'n' Pop, one of my first mini Lalaloopsies and still one of my all-time favorites. :)  The moment I first saw her, I knew she needed to be in my collection.  I loved the fact that she was blowing a bubble. :)

One of the fun things about most of the mini Lalas (aside from the most recent releases) is that their little cardboard boxes are reusable and can be used as a store or home for them.

A few box details:

The back of the box

On many of the boxes, there is a little section that gives details about the personality of the Lalaloopsy.  As you can see, Bubbles was made from bubble gum.  I find it humorous that it gives the date she was "sewn on" as well.  I'd like to see someone try sewing bubble gum! ;)

On this style of packaging, the clear plastic front is attached to the back of the box with tape that comes off easily without ripping the cardboard.

Once the tape is removed, the clear plastic comes right off.

Then there's another layer of clear plastic that holds the Lalaloopsy and all of her accessories in place.  This lifts right out of the box and then you can pop everything out from behind.

Side note here:  Take it slow when getting out the actual Lalaloopsy.  Their heads are normally wedged into the plastic pretty tightly.  I've never yet broken a head off, but there have been times when I was afraid I might!

Here is Bubbles' candy shop.

And here's a closer look at Bubbles herself.  Isn't she adorable?

Bubbles from the back.

She comes with a mini gumball machine (notice the yarn and button details on the machine?)...

...a purse...

...a balloon...

...and a little bubble gum bear.

Here he is from the back.

Here she is with everything in the set.  If you have the room, setting up the little box with your mini Lala is a fun way to display her! :)

Her balloon is a bit heavy... ;)

At the same time I got Bubbles Smack 'n' Pop, I picked up her friend Sugar Fruit Drops.

Mini Lalaloopsies are typically released in groups of anywhere from four to eight.  Usually the dolls released around the same time have a similar theme.  As you can see, the theme this time around was candy.  The other two dolls released at the same time were Toasty Sweet Fluff, a marshmallow-themed doll, and Twist E Twirls, a red licorice-themed doll. :)

Box details:

One of the things I love about the packaging is that they always say "for ages 4 to 104". :)

The back of the box

One of the reasons I wanted to get this particular Lalaloopsy is because she shares a birthday with Middle Gal. :)

Here is Sugar Fruit Drops with all of her accessories.

Sugar from the front...

...and the back.

I love her adorable umbrella...or perhaps it's a parasol. :)

She also has a gum drop topiary.  Someone must have been a little hungry while wandering in her garden. ;)

Here is her gum drop basket...

...and her adorable gum drop pet, which I think is a mouse...or maybe a cat?

Here is her candy shop.

And here she is on display.  While her umbrella is really cute, it doesn't really work to display it any way but the way I have it in the picture.

I love Sugar Fruit Drops' fun, bright colors.

This little cutie is Lady Still Waiting in her second release, "Lady Writes a Poem".

Box details:

Lady's box is a bit different.  Although it's still a reusable package, it doesn't have anything about her personality (perhaps because she was already released).  I love how the box looks like a little castle.  If you click on the picture, you can see all of the fun details. :)

...and the back.

Her dress...

...fun striped tights, socks, and shoes.

Lady has a little pet unicorn.

She also comes with a quill pen...

...a scroll...

...and some needlework.

Here's a look at the inside of her little mini castle.

And another look at the back.

Many of the boxes have a small door that you can open partially by punching out the cardboard.  However, I've gotten to the point where I don't punch them out anymore, because mine usually end up with a couple of rips in them. :}

The inside of the door.  It's a great idea, but I've found it very difficult to punch the doors out without tearing them.

Here's Lady Still Waiting in her little royal abode. :)

This particular Lala is now living at Mimi's house. :)

This is my mini collection today.  (Please excuse the random blonde tufts at the top of the picture.  My Tangled collection is on the shelf above the Lalaloopsies.) ;)

Here we have Fancy Frost 'n Glaze, Dollop Light 'n Fluffy, and Bubbles Smack 'n' Pop enjoying a spot of tea with their pets, while Berry Jars 'n Jam (from "Berry's Blueberry Party") and Crumbs Sugar Cookie are in the background at the picnic table with their pets.

These are my four Target exclusives (as I said before, I'll go over these in more detail in a later post):  Sprouts Sunshine, Ivory Ice Crystals (my favorite exclusive), Crumbs Loves Chocolate, and Lucky Lil' Bug.

My fairy tale-themed Lalas are on this adorable little shelf I found at Goodwill.  In the back we have Scarlet Riding Hood, Snowy Fairest, Curls 'n Locks, and Forest Evergreen (not exactly a fairy tale character, but I like to think of him as the huntsman from Red Riding Hood).  In the front we have my recently acquired Prince Handsome, waiting patiently for his Cinderslippers. ;)

This is the Lalaloopsy "Sew Sweet Playhouse" (to be featured in another upcoming post).  You can see Alice and the Wacky Hatter at the balcony and sisters Blanket and Pillow Featherbed on the swing.

Here is another Berry Jars 'n Jam from the "Berry's Kitchen" set and a newer mini, Pickles B.L.T.

In the background, you can see Sunny Side Up and Ace Fender Bender enjoying the campfire.

The mini Lalaloopsies are really fun to collect.  They are small so they don't take up much space, and they are very reasonably priced.  The fun details on their boxes, clothing, pets, and accessories add to their appeal.  My daughters and I all enjoy our mini collections. :)

Do any of you have mini Lalaloopsies?  Which ones are your favorites?

Coming up on Friday:  my review of the Lala-Oopsies Princess Anise doll. :)

Aww! I would like to have a mini Lala for my dolls. They're so adorable! I take singing lessons and right now I am working on singing "When Will My Life Begin" from Tangled and "Beauty and the Beast" from...well, I guess you can tell. ;) I thought you might like to hear about that!

I think I am going to buy some mini la la loopises with the birthday and Christmas money I get this year, (My birthday is a couple weeks before Christmas,) They are just so darn cute, and after winning one of your giveaways a while ago and getting Dot Starlight, I found them less ridiculous and more adorable,

I love the minis! I have Marina Anchors, Berry Jars and Jam, Pepper Pots n Pans, Ivory Ice Crystals, Harmony B Sharp, Blossom Flower Pot, Peanut Big Top and her little sister Squirt, and Pillow Featherbed.

I've been looking for Bubbles Smack n Pop everywhere! Where did you find her?

Have a Lalarific day!

Oh my goodness, doll lover 25!! What an amazing find! :) Yes, I'm quite aware of how rare Miss Clover is. I've been keeping an eye out for her myself. Of course, considering that she is going for over $100 on eBay right now, I don't feel like I'd be able to keep her even if I DID find her. :} Congratulations! :)

Hi Nina! It sounds like you have a great mini collection. :)

I bought Bubbles Smack 'n' Pop last year when she was first released. She's super hard to find now, but you might try eBay.

You have a Lalarific day, too! :)
