How I Celebrated World Doll Day

Some of you may have heard that today is World Doll Day. While I wasn't active in the blogging world, I did spend the day appropriately immersed in doll-related activities. ;)

Because it was 109 degrees yesterday, we spend the night at my parents last night. (Central air is very much preferred over a swamp cooler in weather that warm.) ;) So today, I helped my mom empty, dust, reorganize, and rearrange her doll rooms. Then we redressed all of her dolls into summery outfits. :) It was a lot of fun. I thought I'd stop by and quickly share a few pictures of the day. :)

P.S. Sorry that some of the photos are a bit blurry. The lighting can be a bit tricky at my mom's, and sometimes it's hard to tell on my phone screen that the picture wasn't clear. :{

I started by taking pictures of all of the rooms before we took anything down:

The display on top of the small room (a kitchen set up).

The small room (set up as a bedroom).

The dresser display.

The top long room (set up as a living room/sitting room/dining room).

The bottom long room (set up as a bedroom/dining room).

The living room display.

Our first step was to remove all of mom's dolls.

Here they are, lined up on the couch.

Plus a few extras and all of mom's mini dolls on the loveseat. ;)

And here are the empty rooms, waiting for their makeovers:

Here's everything we have to try to fit back inside! ;)

One of the reasons Mom wanted to redo the rooms is that she got the Our Generation "Gourmet Kitchen Set" and wanted to use it.

Here's another look at all of the goodies inside. I didn't do an actual review on this because we had enough to do today with all of the rearranging. ;)

The stove, sink, and accessories.

The fridge.

After clearing out the rooms and opening the kitchen set, our next step was to fill the rooms with all of the large furniture pieces.

Here's the top of the small room, now a bedroom.

The small room itself, now a kitchen.

The dresser display, a music room in progress.

The top long room, still a living room/sitting room/dining room. ;)

The bottom long room, still a bedroom/dining room. :)

Once we had all of the big pieces in, it was time to fill in with all of the tiny, doll-sized accessories. :)

The top of the small room...

The top long room...

...and some...well, you know: ;)

And here's the bottom long room...

...with some closer details:
Sorry I don't have more pics of this room. They turned out really blurry. :(

At last, it was time to dress all of the dolls in summer outfits and return them to their displays.

First up is the new living room display:
As you can see, we went for a summer theme. ;)

A barbecue party.

Hanae (MyAG/Truly Me #4), Not Named (MyAG/Truly Me #25, who is a future present for my niece), and Janie (MyAG/Truly Me #37).

Ashley (MyAG/Truly Me #24).

The first completed room. :D

Katie (Gotz Little Sisters Doll)

Kaya (AG Historical). Doesn't she look great in Saige's outfit? :)

Laura (MyAG/Truly Me #39)

The second completed room. :D

Grace (AG GOTY 2015)

Nellie (AG Historical)

Chrissa (AG GOTY 2009)

The completed dresser display. Caitlin (MyAG/Truly Me #28 with a haircut) and Lanie (AG GOTY 2010 with straightened hair). Caitlin is missing her flute (my mom couldn't find it), but will eventually have an instrument too. ;)

Both completed long rooms.

The top room.

Sunny (MyAG/Truly Me #26) and Jess (AG GOTY 2006)

Kit (AG Historical), Ruthie (AG Historical), and Marie-Grace (AG Historical). It was very important to Little Gal that Kit and Ruthie be together. ;)

The completed bottom room.

Saige (AG GOTY 2013) and Lindsey (AG GOTY 2001)

Tess (Gotz Little Sisters Doll...not my Tess) ;) and Cecile (AG Historical)

Tess and Cecile again with a clearer view of the table.

Felicity (AG Historical)

It took most of the day to redo all of the displays, redress the dolls, and set everything up, but it was a lot of fun. :) I always love "playing" with my mom's dolls and doll stuff. :)  Hope you enjoy the pics!

Yikes...three posts in one week! Now I've spoiled you guys. I can't promise to keep the same record throughout the summer, but I'll do my best to post as regularly as I can. ;)

You're welcome, Melody. :) My mom has found some great doll-sized furniture over the years. :)

Thanks for the tag, Ashley! Looks like a lot of fun! :)

I really like the gourmet kitchen set! We were at an antique store yesterday and it was fun to see the miniature house displays from long ago. Glad you had fun playing! ~Lisa (Paige's mom)

Happy World Doll Day! I'm so glad you found time to write a post too! The new displays look amazing, you two did a great job! At the same time, I'm relieved I'm not into diorama items. Dusting and rearranging is so much work and I can't even change a pair of doll shoes without the cat coming to "help".

This is so fabulous!!! I can't believe your mom's collection (super jealous of Kit and Lindsey!) and the rooms look wonderful. Someday I hope to have an AG display half this beautiful... at this point, I'm working on turning some old shelves into a house but I've only got space for four rooms (three bedrooms and a living room) so not everybody has their own space yet. Hopefully they will soon! :D

Hi Lisa! :) Thanks for stopping by. The Gourmet Kitchen set is really fun...so many adorable accessories. :) I love seeing antique doll displays, too! Glad you guys had a good time. :)

Thanks, MyLittleMegara. Yep, my mom's collection is pretty awesome. :) I love helping her set things up since she has so much space. ;) I hope to have more space at some point in time, too, but I'm thankful for the display space I have...and the fact that Hubby is okay with having a room overrun with dolls and toys. ;)

You're welcome, Anonymous! :)

Hi BlackKitty! So nice to hear from you again. :) Glad you enjoyed the displays.

Lol, my mom and I are both HORRIBLE at dusting our displays. They usually stay dusty until we decide to rearrange them. It's too much work to try and dust them at other times. ;)

We don't have cats, but I can only imagine how "helpful" they would be at such times. ;)

Amazing displays! I really enjoyed taking a peek at your mom's dolls and her amazing rooms. I can't get over all of the perfect doll sized accessories she's collected over the years. Your girls must be in awe, lol.
