Season Five Shopkins :D

Hello everyone! Hope your week is going well. :)

I wanted to stop by to share the exciting news that Season Five Shopkins have started showing up in stores. :D

I found packs of them at my local Target, but have also seen them at Walmart. They are supposedly in Toys R Us as well.

I'd pretty much decided that we had plenty of Shopkins and didn't need any others, but Moose Toys came up with some fun new variants to this series which changed my mind. ;) (Brilliant marketing, Moose Toys.) ;)

This time around, I got a twelve pack, three five packs (one for each daughter), and a two pack.

I was too impatient to wait to open everything, so I opened the two pack in the car. ;) As you can see, this time around we have cute Petkins backpacks instead of shopping baskets or bags to house the Shopkins. All of the two packs had these same two, the pink cat and the mint green dog.

Pictures of the packaging around them:

And here they are out of the package. The Petkins backpacks connect to each other, as shown here.

When you open the bottom of one of the packs, the blind bag Shopkin is waiting inside. You can also see here how the backpacks connect.

Once you've opened the one on the right, you can lift up the loop of the backpack on the left to separate them.

I was pleased to discover that the blind bag packaging had little notches in the plastic for easy opening.

And my first Shopkin is Ice Cream Kate.

Side view (see her little ice cream cone on top?)

She fits perfectly inside the dog backpack...

...and it can close with her inside.

Now let's see what's inside this one. :)

By the way, I just had to show you the cute strap detail on the backs of these. And do you see the cat's little tail in the center?

One more blind bag!

It's Bessy Baseball. :)

...and side view.

And here she is in her backpack.

I waited to open the others until the girls got home. Here's the twelve pack and one of the five packs.

Let's start with the twelve pack.
One of the new things for Shopkins this time around are adorable Shopkins charms. :) Every twelve pack comes with two charms, one visible, and one in a blind bag. The charms were something that the girls and I were all excited about. The packs also come with two surprise Shopkins in cat and dog Petkins backpacks.

Package details from the front:

The side of the packaging is thicker this time around with cute artwork of the characters.

Back of the package

And a few closer details:

We love these "Electro Glow" Shopkins! My girls and I really enjoy glow-in-the-dark stuff. :) For me, I think it takes me back to my childhood. Glow-in-the-dark was super big in the 80s. ;)

Now for the five pack. All of the five packs include one blind bag Shopkin in a bunny Petkins backpack. These packs also come with a visible charm, but instead of an extra charm in a blind bag, they come with a charm bracelet instead. This is why I decided to go ahead and get three five packs when normally I'd just get one pack of each size. I wanted each of my girls to have a charm bracelet.

Package details from the front:

The back of the package is pretty close to the other one, with just a few slight variations. :)

Since I've reviewed Shopkins a lot on the blog, I'm not going to do a full opening post this time, but I will share some of our favorites from this shopping spree in just a bit. ;)

First, though, we'll take a look at the newest Shopkins shopping list. :)

Here we have the key to the different types of Shopkins to collect.

This time around, the categories are Sport...

...Garden...

...Music (one of my favorite categories)...

...Homewares...

...Bakery...

...the rest of Bakery, and Sweet Treats...

...Charms (ooh, so many to collect!)...

...Tech (these are all the fun glow-in-the-dark ones)...

...and Limited Edition. Honestly, I never really pay much attention to the Limited Edition ones. I don't want to get too excited about them, since we've never found one yet. ;)

So here are a few of our faves. :)

First off, here's another look at the three different types of Petkins backpacks (so far): the pink cat, the mint green dog, and the lavender bunny.

One interesting thing about the bunnies in the five pack were that they came with these little pink strings tied to their loops. This could turn them into keychains or make them easier to attach to things.

The girls decided they didn't want to keep them attached. They were easily removed.

Oldest Gal's favorites are these two: Sadie Soccerball and Snorky, both from the "Sport" section.

Middle Gal's favorites are Fun Drum and Dennis Bat, from the "Music" and "Sport" sections. However, Middle Gal has informed me that she's renaming Dennis because he does NOT look like a boy to her. (I think it's the eyelashes.) ;)

Little Gal loves Cuppa Cocoa and Mel T Moment, from the "Sweet Treats" and "Bakery" sections.

And my two favorites are Launa Mower (I LOVE that she's a cow!) and Tammy Tambourine, from the "Garden" and "Music" sections.

Here are the girls' charm bracelets and charms. I almost got them in all three of their favorite colors. Little Gal's favorite color is actually red, but pink is a nice substitute. ;) We didn't have an even number of charms because of the extra one in the twelve pack, but Middle Gal very graciously offered to take only one charm and let her sisters have two. :) (As a thank you, she got to choose a Shopkin from the twelve pack first.)

She chose one of our two glow-in-the-dark Shopkins, Connie Console:

This isn't a great picture, but here she is glowing in the dark. (She's a lot brighter in reality.)

Here's a closer look at Oldest Gal's bracelet and charms. She ended up with the regular Cupcake Chic and the regular D'lish Donut.

The bracelet is made of flexible, rubbery plastic.

It attaches at the end with a loop and a plastic T. The T can easily be bent to one side to fit through the loop.

The charms slide easily onto the bracelets.

Here's Middle Gal's bracelet.

Her adorable charm is the translucent Polly Polish. :)

And here's Little Gal's bracelet.

She also ended up with the regular Cupcake Chic. Her second charm is the metallic Prommy.

The only charm I was really interested in was the translucent Yo-Chi. So, I'll admit it, when I saw another five pack with her in it, I bought it. :} But isn't she so cute? :D

I thought it would be fun to show a size comparison between the regular Shopkins and their charm counterparts. Basically, the charms look like little baby Shopkins. :) So cute!

On the same night I found my Yo-Chi charm, I also saw this adorable new Fashion Spree set that I've never seen before. It's called the "Tropical Collection," and has a Hawaiian theme. Isn't it cute?  I did NOT buy this set, but took some pics. (See? I do have some self-control.) ;)

A closer look at the Shopkins. Here we have a pair of flip flops, a stool (that is not a Shopkin), a hula skirt, a hat, and a pineapple drink.

On this side we have a shaved ice dessert, a tropical flower, and a ukulele. (Plus another non-Shopkins stool.)

Overall, the girls and I are super excited about the newest season of Shopkins. I think adding the elements of charm bracelets and glow-in-the-dark Shopkins is a great idea. And I can't wait to see some of the new Fashion Spree sets if they're all as cute as the Tropical Collection.

What about you guys? Will any of you be searching the stores for these newest sets?

These are so cute! I have just started seeing them at our Walmart, and I picked up a blind bag for my daughter. I'm not sure if we'll be adding any more to our stash, as we have SO MANY it seems, but they are just so cute, so it may be hard to resist. :)

I know what you mean! We have a ton of them, too. At least they're tiny! ;D

The animal-themed backpack carrying cases, and their ability to link up to one another, are neat, as are the charm bracelets--it's great that Moose continues to shake things up a bit with additional features in each new wave to keep things fresh and interesting. As an avid gamer, the video game Shopkins (Gabby Gamer and Connie Console) are my favorites out of this assortment.

If a person doesn't mind making minor alterations, I imagine it'd be possible to add little loops to the tops of "normal" Shopkins so that they could be attached to these new bracelets too.

Hi Mark!

We all love the animal backpacks and charm bracelets, too. Moose has been great at figuring out new methods to keep their buyers interested. ;)

I'm not a gamer, but I love the video game Shopkins, too! :) They're so cute, and I love the glow-in-the-dark feature.

Good thought on making regular Shopkins into charms. I'm sure it could be done. Hmm, perhaps another summer project? ;)
