Middle Gal's Lalaloopsy Birthday "Cake", Thrift Store Finds, and Some Updates for the Week

Hi everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day yesterday. :)  Just a few random things and some updates today.

First off, I thought you'd all enjoy seeing Middle Gal's birthday "cake" (although it was actually cookies instead!) from her family party.  Today is her actual birthday.  At 2:29 PM on this day seven years ago, my little bundle of joy joined our family.  I can't believe she's already that old! :}

As you can see, she's still very much into Lalaloopsy. :)  Mom and Mimi did a great job with the cake this year, as usual.  They used one of the Peanut Big Top minis, along with her accessories and her cardboard house.  The trees are made of star-shaped sugar cookies with purple frosting and pink sprinkles (Middle Gal's specific request), and are topped with dark chocolate Hershey's kisses.  Then Mom took two thin dowel rods , used cookies to secure them, and cut the Happy Birthday pennants out of scrapbooking paper.

Adorable mini Peanut Big Top.

Middle Gal had a wonderful family party and is very excited about her birthday trip...but I'll get back to that in a bit.

I thought you'd enjoy seeing my latest Goodwill find:  45 My Little Ponies!  These were purchased over two trips, but someone obviously just got rid of their entire collection.

My Little Pony Palooza!! ;)

And here they are slightly more organized.  There are 45 ponies in all, 44 G3s and 1 G1.

Right now, I'm in the middle of going through the ponies, organizing them, and figuring out who they are.  Once I've finished that, I'll figure out which ones I'm keeping and which ones I'll be passing on. :)

I have some great upcoming posts planned, including some reviews and a couple of fun giveaways, so be on the lookout for those. :)

But first, I have an out of town trip this weekend!  Mom, Mimi, and I are taking Oldest Gal, Middle Gal, and Little Gal on a birthday trip to a Disney Store and several other places in the same vicinity.  This is a replacement for the 3 crazy "friend" parties I end up throwing 3 months in a row every year.  We thought it was a good year to try something different.  Each girl will still have a nice, low-key family party during their birthday month, but this weekend is the big celebration.  Each of them have about $50 to spend (gifts from family), so they're all super excited. :)  I'll share all about the trip when I get back.

I won't have Internet access while I'm gone, so don't be worried if I don't publish your comment or get right back to you...I'll be back in a couple of days. :)

And on that note, once again I've found myself a bit behind on my emails.  I was hoping to get to them before this weekend, but it just didn't work out with packing and everything else this week.  If you've sent me an email recently, I apologize for the delay and will respond as soon as I can, hopefully by next week.

That's about all for now...I've got to finish packing and get to bed! ;)

Oh wow, that cake is amazing! Your girls are so lucky. You are also lucky to find all of those My Little Ponies. I used to have a ton of them when I was little. I now have three new cute little ones. Speaking of thrift store finds, I recently found the exact same Liv Sophie as you, except she is wearing a different top. I have just ordered a couple more from Ebay to keep her company - and to share wigs with :)

I just found your site yesterday. My interest in dolls resurfaced 8 months ago when my daughter was born. I also have a 6 and 4 year old sons. Some of their toys are pretty cool, but after years of Thomas the Tank Engine, Ben 10, Star Wars, etc, I am loving everything girly. I will be following your lovely blog closely :)

Have a great birthday trip. I can't wait to read about it.

Nat Kat.

LOVE that birthday "cake"!

Abigail, the little pink pony is a G1 Sniffles from the Teeny Pony Twins series released in Year 10 (1991-1992).

No problem, Anonymous. :) How fun that they share a birthday! :)

Thanks, Casey. :) I thought it was adorable too. It's so nice having a mom and aunt that take care of the "cake" so that I don't have to do it. ;)

I have just found your blog and I am loving it! I rediscovered my love of dolls when my daughter was born 8 months ago. I have two older boys, aged 6 and 3. Some of their toys are pretty cool but after so many years of Ben 10, Star Wars, Transformers, etc, I am loving having the girly toys back in my life again.

Your My Little Pony find is amazing. I had lots of them when I was a little girl and have recently bought three little ones. Are all of the new MLP smaller than the originals? I do like the new ones. They have a great sleek shape but the older ones are very cute and pony like.

Speaking of thrift store finds, I found a Liv Sophie doll exactly like yours in a thrift store. I have now bought two more to keep her company... and share wigs with.

I hope that you all enjoyed the birthday trip. I look forward to hearing what you got :)

Hi Nat Kat, it's nice to meet you. :) Congratulations on your newest little one. Having a girl in the house will be lots of fun. :)

Our house is all tea parties, princesses, My Little Pony, and Lalaloopsy, so I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. ;)

The very newest ones (currently sold in stores) are all smaller than the older ones. The G3 ponies, like I found here, are just slightly smaller than the originals, but much closer to their size.

I've found a lot of great information about My Little Ponies (and remembered some of my childhood favorites) by browsing through the My Little Pony Wiki. Here's the site for the original "G1" ponies (you'll have to copy and paste): http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/G1_Ponies

And here's where I found info on the G3 ponies: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/G3_Ponies#Year_Five_.282007.29

For info on the newest, current ponies (or G4, as they're called), you can check out their wiki here: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/My_Little_Pony_Friendship_is_Magic_Wiki

Congrats on your LIV dolls. I just love their articulation (as I'm sure you'll find out once you start reading older posts). ;)

I'm hoping to have something up about the trip by the end of the day! :)

Hi leah! I'm so sorry, but I no longer have this lot of ponies, so I won't be able to do a review. If you're trying to identify ponies, though, a wonderful website is Strawberry Reef. It includes pictorial references and guides to My Little Ponies from all four "generations", or versions that have been released through the years.

Hope this helps! :)
