Blogoversary Giveaway

Hello everyone! Sorry to leave you hanging for so long. I'm back from Realm Makers (which you can read about on my writing blog HERE), managing to survive the over 100 degree weather of our hometown, and in the middle of packing for our last family vacation before school starts. In the middle of the craziness, though, I wanted to uphold a long-standing tradition and do a giveaway in celebration of SEVEN YEARS of blogging at Never Grow Up. Hooray! :D

Because it's been seven years, there are seven prizes for one special reader. Here's a look at what the winner will receive:

A Shopkins Lollipop Soft Top Cutie Car...

...a Kuu Kuu HaraJuku mini G doll...

...one of my original hand drawn artwork pieces on a 4x4 cardstock tile with a protective sheet, signed and colored with ink pen and Copic markers...

...a Shopkins Happy Places Season 3 Jellica Lil' Shoppies doll...

...a Season 2 Hatchimals blind bag...

...and two Disney Store gift cards totaling $10 ($5 each).

Giveaway Rules:

1. This contest is WORLDWIDE, so any of my readers can enter. :) That being said, I'm not sure if the gift cards work out of the country, so please be aware that this might be an issue.

2. If you are under 18, please get a parent or guardian's permission to enter.

3. To enter, please leave your name or username and email address in the comments below. Comments with email addresses will NOT be published and will only be seen by me.

4. For one extra entry, you may choose one of the following:
     -Follow me on Twitter
     -Follow me on Instagram
-Follow me on my Never Grow Up Facebook page
     -Follow me on YouTube

NOTE: Please leave me a comment, letting me know what you did for your extra entry so I can count it!

If you are already following/subscribed to any of the above, let me know and I will count it for your extra entry.

5. The contest will be open until Monday, August 14th

6. On Tuesday, August 15th, I will pick one winner through a random drawing, notify them via email, and request their shipping address. The winner will have one week to respond. If I have not heard from them by Tuesday, August 22nd, a new winner will be chosen.

Thank you so much for the past seven years. Your comments, input, and friendships mean more than I can say. :) Can't wait to see who wins!

Almost Time to Pick a Winner...

Wow, this past week completely got away from me! Not only did I not get my planned review posts done, I completely forgot to do my little reminder post this morning about this being the last day of my Six Year Blogoversary Giveaway. Sheesh. :{

So, sorry about the lack of a reminder. I will be tallying the entries and doing my random draw for the winner tomorrow, but I will accept entries up to 9:30 AM Pacific Time tomorrow morning...just in case you need a little extra time. ;)

Thank you so much for all of the entries. I can't wait to see who won! :D Talk to you guys again soon!

Six Years...Almost ;) (Plus a Giveaway)

So, I THOUGHT my six year blogoversary was today, but I just looked through the archives and realized my actual blogoversary is TOMORROW. Since we're heading out for vacation tomorrow, though, I thought I'd go ahead and do my post today as I had originally planned. ;)

It's hard to grasp that it's been six years since I sat down and started this little blog. It's fascinating to go back and see how it has grown, developed, and changed over the years.

Blogging for this long shows you how much turnover there is in the Internet world. Many of the bloggers who inspired me or became my first online friends aren't around anymore. And I get it. Keeping at it this long is tough. But I'm thankful for every post, every comment, and every friend I've made along the way, even those who have come and gone. I wouldn't be where I am today without all of you, my friends and readers. So thank you. Thank you for sticking with me for so long. For brightening my day with your thoughts and encouragement. For being such a loving, supporting community. I couldn't have done this without you. :)

In keeping with tradition, as a thank you to all of you, I've planned a little giveaway. Sadly, my current financial situation will not allow it to be the grand giveaway I'd hoped for, and I'll have to keep it within the USA this time. I hope you understand. Thankfully, I had a few goodies stashed away for future giveaways. :)

Here are the prizes. :) I chose six different types of toys, one for each year of my blog. One winner will receive the whole collection. :)

First up is this adorable Little Pullip Assa doll, a recent Tuesday Morning find of my mom's. :)

Assa has an adorable little face...

...and a cute little pin that comes with her.

The winner will also receive this sweet Little Kingdom Snow White doll.

Next we have a blind-bag-sized My Little Pony Applejack with her bed and blanket.

The blanket and Applejack are both removable. :)

Since I just recently discovered the Twozies, I thought it would be fun to include a couple of pairs in the giveaway. :) The winner will receive two Twozies pairs and two display boxes.

Stretch (the giraffe) and Lofty (the baby)

Spotty (the leopard) and Speedie (the baby)

I also thought it would be fun to include another new line for the summer: the My Mini MixieQ's. :)

The prizes include (left to right) Roller Skates, Hot Dog, Gamer Girl...

...Magician, Checkerboard, and Gamer Boy. :)

And finally, I wanted to include something for the 18 inch crowd as well, so here is a cute Cat in the Hat "book" for 18 inch dolls.

It's actually blank inside, but still looks really cute on display.

And it's a great size for the dolls, as Hailey is demonstrating here. :)

Giveaway Rules:

1. This giveaway is for readers in the USA only. (Sorry!) :(

-Follow me on my NEW Instagram account (It's not very exciting yet, but I'm working on it.) ;)
-Follow me on my Never Grow Up Facebook page

NOTE: Please leave me a comment, letting me know what you did for your extra entry so I can count it!

5. For another extra entry, you may leave a suggestion for the future or share your favorite post from Never Grow Up in the comments. (If you leave them in a comment separate from the one containing your email address, I can publish them to share with others.) :)

6. Because I'll be gone on vacation all week, this giveaway will be open until Sunday, August 7th

7. On Monday, August 8th, I will pick a winner through a random drawing and email them to get their mailing address. The winner will have one week to respond. If I have not heard from the winner by Monday, August 15th, a new winner will be chosen.

Thank you again for a wonderful six years together. :) I appreciate you all more than you know.

MarcotsGirlsDolls Etsy Shop Interview and Giveaway

Back in my earlier days of collecting, I was constantly on the lookout for Regency era dresses for my 18 inch dolls. That led me to the online seller MarcotsGirls, also known as Gloria. ;) I was impressed with the quality of her work, the reasonable pricing, and the variety of styles and eras of doll dresses she had available.

Those of you who read Tess and Maggie's blog or have enjoyed some of my earlier AG photo shoots will probably recognize the two Regency dresses I purchased from her, as modeled here by Hayden and Jenna in an earlier photo shoot:

I originally discovered Gloria's work on eBay, but these days she does the majority of her online transactions Etsy.com, where I recently rediscovered her at her Etsy shop, MarcotsGirlsDolls.

I thought it would be fun to give her a shout out here on the blog. She graciously agreed to answer a few interview questions and send a handmade dress for a giveaway. :)

1. Thanks for joining us on the blog today! :) Could you tell us how you got started with sewing doll clothing?

My two daughters and I started making and selling 18 inch doll clothing about fourteen years ago.

2. What is the first doll you can remember getting?

I remember way back when I was about ten years old, getting a 20 inch or taller doll that came with a hair dryer-the vintage type that you actually stuck your whole head into.

3. What is your favorite type of doll to sew for?

Eighteen inch dolls, followed closely by the 16 inch A Girl for All Time dolls. Until recently, I primarily created historical fashions. Now, you'll find both historical and contemporary outfits in my Etsy store.

4. What is your favorite era of period clothing to capture in doll form?

    Colonial and Regency

5. How do you come up with ideas for your doll outfits?

I visit museum collections, both online and in person. I also get a lot of suggestions from my adult daughters and friends. Television and movies are also great for inspiration. But usually, I buy a fabric I like with a particular style and time period in mind. The trims and little changes that we do help to make a dress unique.

6. Do you have any advice for people who would like to start sewing clothes for their dolls?

My advice to anyone starting to sew doll clothes for the first time would be: start simple. Your expertise and knowledge will grow as you gain experience and confidence.

7. Where can we find you online?

You can find my shop at https://www.etsy.com/shop/MarcotsGirlsDolls. You can keep up with any news about additions to my shop or sales by liking my Facebook Page. On occasion, I still offer a few items via eBay under the seller name marcotsgirls.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us, Gloria. I always enjoy getting to know a little bit more about my favorite sellers. :)

As I mentioned earlier, Gloria very graciously sent me a doll dress for a giveaway here on the blog.

I decided I would open it so you can see what you'll be getting. :)

The giveaway prizes include an adorable 1950s era dress, a reversible matching coat, and a pair of doll-sized saddle shoes. The dress and coat were handmade by Gloria. The shoes were not, but were included as a fun accessory for the outfit.

Emma decided to be our model today. (Emma's glasses, hair ribbon, and Emma herself are not a part of the giveaway.) ;)

The dress from the back.

The bodice...

...and skirt.

The bodice and skirt have pretty, bright red rickrack embellishments.

The back of the dress has Velcro closure.

I love the fun black and white criss-cross pattern of the material.

The saddle shoes are just adorable. They went on Emma's feet easily and look great with the black and red of her dress.

Here's a look at the sweet coat from the front...

...and the back.

The outer material is a fun red and white polka-dot pattern.

The material of the collar, cuffs, and inside of the jacket match the material of the dress:

The coat has snap closure at the neck.

Or, if you're feeling like a change, the coat is reversible.

Here's the collar, cuffs, and inside of the coat when it's reversed:

And the same snap closure at the neck.

I think I almost prefer it with the black and white material on the outside. But both ways are really cute. :)

This outfit looks so darling on Emma, especially with her dark hair. ;)

So, it's been a while since I've done a giveaway here on the blog. Here are a few guidelines:

1. This giveaway is for readers in the USA only. (Sorry to my international readers...I'll try to do another giveaway including all my readers at another time.)

2. If you're under eighteen years old, please get a parent or guardian's permission before entering. I'll have to get your mailing address, and I want to make sure that's acceptable to them.

3. To enter, please leave your name or username AND email address in a comment on this post. Your comments will not be published and will only be seen by me.

4. For extra entries, you may:
      1) "Favorite" the MarcotsGirlsDolls Etsy Shop
      2) Like the MarcotsGirlsDolls Facebook Page
If you do either of these, please leave a comment here and let me know so I can count your extra entries. :)

5. The giveaway will be open for entries until Saturday, July 2nd. On Sunday, July 3rd, I will chose a winner by random drawing and send them a confirmation email.

6. The winner will have one week to email me back with his or her mailing address. If I have not heard from the winner by Sunday, July 10th, a new winner will be selected.

Thanks so much for entering. Can't wait to see who wins! And thanks again to Gloria for participating in this post and providing our giveaway goodies. :)
