EBay Listings, Upcoming Post, and other Randomness

Happy Tuesday, everyone! Hope your week's going well, and that those of you who are back in school or have kiddos back in school are adjusting to the change in schedule without too much trouble. ;)

My girls were excited for their first day. Little Gal (on the left) is in 3rd grade this year, Oldest Gal is in 7th (and looking WAAYYY too old!), and Middle Gal (on the right) is in 5th.

P.S. Please excuse my messy floor. I got all three girls dressed, ready, and off to school EARLY with nothing left behind at home. I didn't have time to clean my floor. I guess I haven't reached Super Mom status yet. ;)

A nice outdoor picture. I realize the posing is kind of awkward in this one, but we were lucky to get ANY outdoor pictures and still be on time for school. ;) The pics from the front were a lot cuter. :)

I celebrated my first day with kiddos at school by going out to lunch with my mom and aunt (Mom's treat). This delicious concoction is known as a "Buddha Bowl" at one of our local restaurants. It had rice, red beans, cabbage, avacado, cilantro, falafel, and a delicious Asian dressing. Yum!! :)

I'm working on my next post for you, which should be up by the end of the week. In the meantime, I thought I'd let you know that the first of my eBay listings for the summer/fall is up. Finances are tight, and I have several big things to save for, so some of my extras have to go.

Thankfully, I have enough surplus that I can start with the things I'm not as attached to...thrift store rescues, duplicates, and that sort of thing. ;) It's mostly ponies at this point, but I'll be listing some doll related things next time around. (It's been a while since I've done eBay, and tiny, easy-to-ship My Little Ponies are always a good way to ease back into things.) ;)

I thought I'd mention this on the blog in case any of you were interested. You can see all of my current listings HERE.

My first few things to save for are my deposit for my gym class, fees for a professional edit for my book, and funds for my church's Ladies Retreat coming up in September. Then it's the rest of my Mount Hermon tuition, a possible second writing conference, and (probably in the distant-ish future) a trip to Arizona to visit my best friend since childhood. :)

Yikes! I've got to get a move on and finish going through my stuff! ;)

And, just to tide you over, I thought I'd share a few random pics of some of the fun toy finds around town I've seen lately. Maybe you've seen some of these, too!

Disney Princess Little Kingdom "Royal Friends Collection," which consists entirely of pets and sidekicks. We especially love Pascal, Gus Gus, and Mushu. :)

The two newest Made to Move Barbies are starting to show up in stores! :D Oldest Gal bought the one on the left. It happens to be the perfect skin tone for a body swap I need. I promised Oldest Gal I wouldn't decapitate her doll, though. ;D

Twilight Sparkle's oak tree from the newest "Nightmare Night" themed blind bag series has appeared on shelves (sorry for the blurry picture). While we don't do as much with Nightmare Night since we don't celebrate Halloween, I'm looking forward to the Cutie Mark Crusaders release so I can FINALLY have all three of them (Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle appear to have removable costumes). I'm also looking forward to the Princess Luna set, because she is so incredibly detailed. :)

I forgot to get pictures, but I also have found the Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon "Guardians of Harmony" toys. Can't wait for Shining Armor and Spike! :D

Blind Bag Palooza!!! :D

We're loving this new blind bag section in our newly-remodeled local Walmart. :D

Some of the new My Mini MixieQ's sets are showing up, too, like this adorable Neon Arcade Playset...

...and this super fun Fairy Land Fashion pack with all sorts of costumes.

A closer look. :)

The vintage-style Strawberry Shortcake dolls are starting to appear in Target. The scent is still the yucky new scent instead of the wonderful one I grew up with, but the dolls are just adorable. :)

I think the Strawberry and Huckleberry Pie set is my favorite, although I'm bummed that they made his hat cloth instead of plastic like the original.

Our local Target has lots of fun new mini Lori dolls. We even found a boy doll named Evan! :)

And we LOVED this mini food set from the Lori line.

The mini Our Generation dolls are back, too.

And check out this adorable ice cream truck for the full-sized Our Generation dolls!

We recently discovered "Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir." The girls have been loving the episodes, so much so that Middle Gal and Little Gal decided to buy these Ladybug and Cat Noir action figures with their spending money. We've had many adventures since, as you can imagine. ;)

I personally prefer the French audio with English subtitles, but I'm kind of a purist that way. ;) (I feel the same way with the original Japanese audio of "The Borrower Arrietty" and other similar films.) So much tends to get lost in translation with dubbing...

I guess that's about all for now! Happy school days, happy shopping, happy end of summer. :) More to come later in the week! :)

Did You Miss Me? ;)

Hello to all of my lovely readers! How was your January? I hope your year got off to a great start.

I wanted to thank all of you for being so understanding about my month-long hiatus. It was just what I needed to regroup and take care of some long-overdue projects. I really missed being here, though, and I'm happy to be back. :)

As usual, I had way too many things on my "to do" list for January, so I didn't quite accomplish everything I'd hoped, but it still was a pretty productive month.

So, just what did I do with all my spare time, you may ask?

1. I adopted a unicorn. This little cutie was in Barnes and Noble. I had a gift card, and I couldn't resist his cute little face. He's now named after my unicorn character in my book, which I can't share with you guys just yet. So here, he'll be referred to as "M." He came with a fun little guide on how to raise a unicorn. ;)

I'm thinking it would be fun to take him along on some of my trips. "M" the traveling unicorn. ;)

2. I installed lighting in my doll rooms. My mom found a set of six little LED lights at Costco that were on coupon for only $15 plus tax last month. She bought them for her doll rooms, and they looked great! So, of course, I decided to go to Costco and snag a set for myself. The lighting is so horrible in my room. Now I'll be able to take much better pictures and share more of the intricate details of my doll rooms.

I forgot to take a picture of the lights in their packaging before I opened them, but here's the empty package (just in case any of you want to try and find them).

Here's what the rooms looked like before the lights (and before I tidied up the rooms). ;)

And here they are with the new lights.

They even have a remote so I don't have to push them on individually. I can also choose four different levels of lighting. I can't wait to do some photo shoots in there now! :)

Here's a closer look at the three rooms:

I love how natural the lighting is now. I've never been able to get this clear of a picture in my doll rooms before. :)

The only downside to these lights is that the self-adhesive pads they came with didn't hold very well. The lights kept dropping no matter how hard I tried to keep them up. Yesterday, Hubby picked up some strong double-sided tape to help keep them in place. So far they haven't had a problem anymore.  Just FYI. :)

This is the stuff he got. It's Scotch "Indoor Mounting Tape."

3. I did a major overhaul of my collection. We're talking drawers, closets, and every single shelf. I'd been feeling the need to go through things for a while, partially because I was overwhelmed with everything I had, and partially because I was just flat running out of space. I'm also trying to save up for Mount Hermon again this year, so I needed to sell some things to save up for that. (About $400 more to go and I'm paid in full.) :)

A look at my living room during the crazy eBay/Craigslist/local children's clothing and toy store phase. ;) (And actually, this is less than half of the stuff I sold.) I still have a few more listings to do, but not nearly as many as I did before.

My room is still full of stuff, but it's much more manageable and organized. A YouTube room tour will be coming your way in the next month or so. In the meantime, here are a couple of pictures.

Sorry for the less-than-stellar quality, guys. When I do a more official room tour, I'll use a lamp for extra lighting. ;)

Oh, and if you want a laugh, check out my "Tone Deaf Belle" video I just uploaded to YouTube. I'm in the process of listing my large Disney Store singing dolls on eBay, and while taking pictures and checking out their singing features, I discovered that Belle had a little...problem...staying on key. ;) She also (rather creepily) decided to start singing on her own without waiting for me to press the button on her palm. :{

4. I heard back from all of my editing friends and am now self-editing my book based on their recommendations. Whew, this is a crazy process! It takes a lot of thought, prayer, and time. Your prayers would be appreciated as I evaluate each suggestion and decide what is best for my book. I will be submitting my manuscript to two potential agents sometime next week. Eep! I'm excited and terrified at the same time. ;) I'll keep you guys posted on my progress.

5. I started Skinny Jeans again. After taking a break from the gym in December, I returned for another Skinny Jeans program at the beginning of January. It was wonderful to get back to exercising. Even better, I didn't lose all that much progress after a crazy holiday month, so that was encouraging. :)

I won't be vlogging through my experience this time, at least not on a regular basis. Still, I'm looking forward to learning more, making exercise and eating right the norm, and continuing to grow stronger and healthier. :)

6. I cleaned my house. Hooray! I've been so disgusted by how trashed my house has been. It's amazing how much stress a messy house adds to my life. I try to ignore it, but it's always there in the back of my mind. But now, it's so wonderful to get up in the morning and come out to a spotless living room and kitchen. We had company over this past weekend, and my doll club is coming over this Wednesday for our monthly meeting, so cleaning was imperative.

I'm not sure how long this phenomenon will last, so I took some pictures to document it. You may never see it this clean again. ;)

My living room. The quality's pretty bad, but at least I didn't have to pixelate anything this way. ;)

My 80s and 90s toy curio. :)

My computer desk, where all the blogging/writing/artsy magic happens. ;)

Okay, I do still have this pile of tubs to go through. It's all paperwork that needs to either be filed, shredded, or stored. Sigh.

The dining room, with Little Gal and Middle Gal playing an after school game of Nertz. :)

My kitchen. This is the cleanest it's been in a while, because my washer overflowed last Wednesday night. :} I had to scrub the entire floor and throw out a bunch of stuff that got ruined. I guess that's one way to get motivated to clean for company. ;)

Our hallway.

Our Frozen bathroom.

You've already seen pics of my room, and the girls rooms are...ahem...not exactly on the clean side at the moment, so I think that will conclude the tour pics for now. ;)

Oldest Gal stayed home with a sore throat today, so she's a little out of sorts at the moment, anyway.

7. I purchased a Post Office Box. Yep, it's official! I now have a PO Box for anyone who is interested in sending me fan mail. I have a nice blank spot on my wall behind my computer where I will hang up any notes that are sent my way.

You can reach me at:

   Hannah Prewett
   PO Box 87
   Anderson, CA 96007

I have plans to do a "Fan Mail Friday" post at the end of each month. In that post, I will share all of the mail I received for the month. (So if you'd rather not have me share your name, please let me know in your letter!) I will not be able to respond to fan mail, but if you include any questions in your letters, I will answer them in my post.

Also, I'm planning on doing a small giveaway each month specifically for fan mail. Anyone who sends me something will have their name put in a drawing for a free little prize.

Talking about themed posts leads to my next accomplishment for the month.

8. I brainstormed and came up with some fun future post ideas.  Because of space issues, changes to my budget, and other factors, I'm going to have to change things up just a bit here on the blog. I'll still do doll and toy reviews, but I won't be able to review every new thing that comes out (as much as I'd love to). I also want to bring back some of the other things I used to do. Here are some of the ideas I came up with:

-Fan Art Friday: I'll share my latest art projects.

-Thrifty Thursday: I'll share tips and tricks for finding great treasures in thrift stores and other secondhand stores. Other times, I'll share my latest thrift store finds.

-Photography-themed posts (sorry, no fancy name for these): I've been so focused on my review posts that I haven't spent as much time doing doll photo shoots. Not only do these improve my photography skills, but they help me appreciate what I already have.

-Writer's Corner: I'm almost 100% sure that I'll be shutting down Ramblings of a Fairy Tale Fangirl. I'm finding it a bit of a challenge to keep up with both blogs, and I have eventual plans for a tie-in blog for my books. So I decided that instead I'll transfer what I've already written over there to this blog. Then, in the future, I'll share writing-themed posts here every once in a while.

-Media Musings: I'd love to get back to doing occasional movie reviews, especially now that the girls are older and can share their perspectives on the ones we watch together.

-Doll Guest Posts: When Tess, Maggie, and Belle wrapped up their blogs, it was mentioned that they'd share guest posts here on Never Grow Up every once in a while. As I'm sure you've noticed, that never happened...for a number of reasons. Most of them related to a lack of organization from yours truly. I might as well say it before Maggie does. ;) Anyway, I'd really like to be better at incorporating these in the future.

Of course, I will intersperse these with my regular doll and toy review posts, posts about trips I take, and alerts about sales and new releases. I'm purposely not committing to a specific schedule for most of these so I still have some flexibility. At this point, I'm committing to at least one post of some kind a week. If I'm able to do more, I will, but I don't want to promise more than I can feasibly do.

Things I'm Still Working On:

As I said, I didn't finish everything I set out to do. Here are a few things that are still in progress.

1. Email Overhaul. Blech. My email is such a mess. I think I deleted around 2,000 spam/social media/outdated emails yesterday, which will give you an idea of why I've been so overwhelmed. Again, I apologize to all of you poor souls who have emailed me this past year or so and have never heard from me. In the next few weeks I will slowly be going through and responding to overdue emails.

I also went through and changed the settings on most of my social media accounts so I no longer get a gazillion emails every time someone looks at something I post. ;) I was getting emails every time someone pinned one of my Pinterest pins, every time someone liked, commented, or posted on my Facebook, and so on. I'm trying to declutter my email as much as possible so I can focus on reader emails.

2. Website Creation. I'm currently working on an official website that will connect to all of my social media and my blog. This won't change anything here, but it will be a nice easy way to tell people how to find me online. It will basically be an online bookmark with links to everywhere you can find me on the Internet. It's a bit beyond my level of computer expertise, though, so I'm working with my brother and husband, doing some research, and taking it slow. I'll let you know when it's ready. :)

3. Blog Update. Some of you may have noticed that a few of the pages I used to have on the top of my blog are missing. I'm in the process of transferring some of my pages to posts. Eventually, I'll have a page up there with links to my former pages. In keeping with the decluttering that has been the theme of the past month, I'm just trying to clear a few pages that aren't as relevant to my current interests and direction. I also want to clear some room for new pages.

Don't worry, nothing will disappear completely. I'm also saving all of the comments from the pages I'm removing and adding them to the content of the posts, so all previous conversations will be saved as well. ;)

There might be a few other minor changes here and there, but nothing too earth-shattering. ;) I'll try to let you know what I'm doing before or as I'm doing it. If you're curious about something or can't find it, just let me know! :)

And don't worry, my Doll and Toy Reviews page and the other pages with lists of links aren't going anywhere. :)

I think that's about all the news for now. My posting may be a bit sporadic at the beginning of this month since my focus is on getting my book editing finished, but I'm looking forward to getting back into regular posting. :)

Have a wonderful week, everyone! I'll talk to you all again soon.

EBay Listings

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful three-day weekend with your families. :)

I just wanted to let you know that I've got several eBay listings up (twenty-three, to be exact). ;) I'm finding the need to downsize a bit, as my space is pretty limited. I'm also trying to earn some extra money so Hubby can cut back on his second job.

You can see all of my listings HERE.

I'm working on another post for later this week. Talk to you again then!

(Sorry I'm a bit behind on comments, too. That's my other project for the week.) :)

Also, there's a whole ton of fun Doctor Who stuff on Zulily.com today, from mugs to t-shirts to jewelry and more.  Any of you Whovians out there should check it out. :)  You can see everything HERE.

Oh, and while I'm at it, I've listed a few things on eBay in case anyone's interested.  I'll be listing a few more things later this morning on a five-day listing.  You can see everything I've listed so far HERE. :)

A Few EBay Listings Up and Other Randomness

Hey everyone!  Just wanted to let you know that I'm starting to sift through some of my thrift store rescues and list them on eBay.  I have a Sasha Gregor doll, a Hearts For Hearts Girls Mosi, and G4 My Little Pony Minty, a couple of Moxie Teenz, and a couple of other things up.  You can see everything I have listed HERE.  (One of my readers had a problem viewing my items, so HERE'S a link to one of my auctions.  After viewing it, you should be able to see everything else by clicking the "view seller's other items" link.  Please let me know if anyone else has a problem viewing my items.)

One of the things I love the most about thrifting is finding something unique that I might not otherwise have ever come into contact with.  By far, my most exciting thrift store find this past month was the Sasha Gregor doll I found in the toy aisle of Goodwill.

He was a bit dirty and dressed in a really ugly outfit made from a brown sock with holes cut in it for arm holes, but I recognized him immediately (and tried not to squeal in the middle of the store). ;)  I had just recently restrung two Sashas for a fellow doll club member, so Sashas were a bit more on my radar than they might have been otherwise.

I'm not all that familiar with the Sasha line, but after doing some online research and talking to one of my doll club ladies, (Oh, fiddlesticks, I still need to do that post about my doll club meetings!  Sorry, Mark Patraw!) I was able to find out a little bit more about them.

I found out that the Sasha dolls were produced both by Gotz company in Germany and by a company in England called Trendon Ltd (it sounds like the company was originally called Frido).  I also discovered that the way you can tell whether you have a Gotz or a Trendon Sasha is to check the doll's head.  The Gotz dolls have a "Sasha" mark on them, while the Trendon dolls have no distinguishing marks.  The Gotz dolls were produced from 1965-1970 and then again from 1995-2001.  The Trendon dolls were produced from 1966-1986.

There were a couple of fun facts I discovered about the Sasha line in general, too.  For instance, did you know that the Sasha dolls were produced in a tannish-brown color because their creator (also named Sasha) did not want the dolls to represent any specific race?  The dolls were also made with asymmetrical facial features to make them more like real children.  They were flat-footed so they could stand on their own, and could even balance upside-down in a headstand position.

The Gregor I found can still do a headstand, even though his arms are a bit loose.

The male dolls like mine were called "Gregor".  There were also baby dolls and African American dolls produced.

There's more I could share about Sasha, but I need to wrap things up and get my girls ready for bed. ;)   I found a lot of useful pages online about Sashas.   If you'd like to do more research yourself, you can see a couple of them HERE and HERE. :)  And here are a couple more helpful sites:

sashadoll.com

sashadolluk.co.uk

Thank you so much to Serenata for sharing these links! :)  I think I actually found the sashadoll.com one in my earlier research.  I hope these help all of you find even more information on this line. :)

I was really torn about letting go of my Gregor.  On the one hand, it was very exciting to find such a normally expensive doll at the thrift store.  (Full disclosure: I found him for $4.99.  I did a starting bid of $29.99 because if he doesn't sell for at least that much, I'll very happily keep him.  I didn't feel I should start him any higher because I got him for such a low price, especially since Goodwill wrote the price on his leg and I couldn't get it all the way off.) :(  But the thing is, I have so many other dolls and toys I'm already collecting, I really don't need to branch out into yet another line.  I'm starting to run out of room!  Gregor is cute, but I'm not as into Sashas as I am into other lines.

My other motivation for finding Gregor a new home is that I'm trying to save up for a writers conference next spring.  My goal is to get my book finished by the end of December and then spend the next few months editing it.  The conference I hope to attend (Mount Hermon Christian Writers Conference in California) would give me an opportunity to meet with agents and editors who might be interested in my work. :D

Because the conference is extremely expensive, I'm going to try to slow down on doll purchases and try to earn a little extra to set aside.  I don't know if going this next year will be a financial possibility, but I'd like to try.  If it doesn't work out for 2015, I'll aim for 2016.  Maybe by then I will have finished my second book, too (I have four planned for the series).

While we're on this subject, one of my goals this month has been to try to work on my book for at least one hour every weekday.  The success of that goal has been varied, but I've definitely been typing more on my story than I would have if I wasn't making the attempt. ;)

So if my posting seems more sporadic or distracted in the next couple of months, that's one of the reasons. ;)

Okay, so enough of that randomness!  All that to say, I've got some eBay listings up, things might be sporadic, but I'll have another post up this week! ;)

Hope you all had a nice Monday!  Talk to you soon!

A Quiet Week Plus a Few EBay Listings

Hey everyone!  Just wanted to let you know that this week I won't be around much on the blog.  I'm helping with the music for my church's Vacation Bible School program, so that's going to take all of my focus and energy. ;)

We got through the first day nicely, so that was a blessing.  There's a good-sized group of kids this year.  I'm looking forward to seeing how the Lord works in the lives of the kiddos (and the leaders, too, for that matter). ;)  I know VBS always stretches me in ways I wasn't expecting, but I always come away with another lesson for myself.  I think this year the lesson will be about flexibility.  For a few years, I was in charge of the music for the opening and closing programs, but being the head honcho was just a little too much for me.  Now I've stepped back to being a helper, which as some of you may know, can be a bit challenging.  It's hard to "let it go" and be there to offer the help that is needed without wanting to take over when things are not going the way I would necessarily plan them. ;)  That being said, my "boss" is doing a great job.  He's really wonderful at keeping the kiddos' attention and transitioning nicely between songs and activities.  A lot of it is "go with the flow" and basically planned as opposed to my over-planned methods of running things, so that's been a bit of a stretch for me.  In a good way, though. ;)

Speaking of "letting it go", a funny story from today.  "A" (my partner in crime aka "boss" from up front) was talking about our verse for the week (Psalm 119:105), and about how God's Word is there to guide us.  Then he asked the kids, "So what song do you think we are going to sing next to help us remember our verse?"  The answer was "Thy Word", but one little girl innocently chirped: "Let it Go?"  Needless to say, most of the leaders were cracking up. ;)

In other news, I have a few little things up on eBay right now (four listings, to be exact).  I'm trying to slowly ease myself back into the whole eBay thing, as I have lots to list in the coming weeks. :}  If you'd like to check things out, you can see my listings HERE.

Oh, and I apologize for the two listings that mention the My Little Pony and Vintage Barbie Pamphlet listings I'm "going to list this weekend".  I didn't get around to those, and I couldn't edit the two listings that already had bids.  I'm hoping to get the MLPs and pamphlets up with the next batch of stuff. ;)

I guess that's about all for now.  I hope you guys have a great week and are staying cooler than we are here (it's over 100 degrees outside and about 84 degrees in my hallway). :{

Talk to you when the whirlwind week is up! ;)

EBay Listings and Giveaway Updates

Hey everyone!  Hope your Saturday is going well. :)  I just had a few quick updates for you.

First of all, I've now heard back from all of my winners, but I'm still waiting on the address from one.  So unless something falls through with that last winner, it's looking like all of the giveaway winners are confirmed. :)  To those of you who won, I will most likely be getting the prizes mailed out on Monday.  I was hoping to do that today, but things didn't quite go according to plan. :}

I also wanted to let you guys know that I have a few items up on eBay, mostly thrift store rescues and a few Frozen extras.  I only have seven things up right now, but I'm hoping to do a few more listings tomorrow afternoon.  You can see everything I have up so far HERE.

Things will probably be a bit quiet around here in the next week as I regroup from the blog party and get caught up on a few things around home, but I'll be back before you know it with more reviews and other fun stuff. :)

CyndiLynn Originals on EBay

Today I'm pleased to introduce you to a new eBay seller in the 18 inch doll world:  cyndilynn57, creator of CyndiLynn Originals.  Cyndilynn57 is just starting her doll clothing business, but she has been a professional seamstress for years, and her work is beautiful and detailed.

Tess is modeling a lovely white dress in dotted swiss, my own selection from CyndiLynn Originals, and one of my favorites of her creations so far. :)

Back view of the dress.  As you can see, it has Velcro closure.

The dress has small ribbon rose accents at the neckline...

...and the arms.

I love the trim at the waist.

Her hemlines are beautifully stitched.

This dress also came with a half slip trimmed in lace.

A closer look at the lace trim of the slip.

The dress is a perfect choice for Tess, my old-fashioned girl. :)  I LOVE this outfit!! :D

Cyndilynn57 has several current listings that are ending tomorrow, and plans to add new listings each week.  Every outfit she makes is one-of-a-kind and will not be duplicated, so if you see something you like, you definitely want to snag it while you can. ;)

You can see all of her current items by clicking HERE, but I thought I'd also share pictures of a few of her items in this post, too:

A pajama and bathrobe set.

The bathrobe is made of polar fleece and is soft and fuzzy.

The pajamas are made out of a soft printed flannel.

I love the cute sheep print. :)

Another dotted swiss dress, this one in orange, yellow, and green:

Some of the pretty details:
This one includes a beautiful lace-trimmed slip, just like my white dress.

A Patriotic print dress with matching hat:

This hat is so adorable. :)

A few more detailed shots:

I have personally seen several of her pieces and have been impressed with the quality and detail in each one.  I would highly recommend her outfits to any doll collector or little doll lover.  Her starting bids range from $19.99 to $24.99 plus shipping, very reasonable prices for the beautiful workmanship.

Cyndilynn57 is not only a great seamstress, but also a dear friend.  I'm so excited to see her launch her line of doll clothes, and I can't wait to see more and more of her creations as she lists them. :)  Be sure to stop by and check out her doll clothing for yourself!
