A Quiet Week Plus a Few EBay Listings

Hey everyone!  Just wanted to let you know that this week I won't be around much on the blog.  I'm helping with the music for my church's Vacation Bible School program, so that's going to take all of my focus and energy. ;)

We got through the first day nicely, so that was a blessing.  There's a good-sized group of kids this year.  I'm looking forward to seeing how the Lord works in the lives of the kiddos (and the leaders, too, for that matter). ;)  I know VBS always stretches me in ways I wasn't expecting, but I always come away with another lesson for myself.  I think this year the lesson will be about flexibility.  For a few years, I was in charge of the music for the opening and closing programs, but being the head honcho was just a little too much for me.  Now I've stepped back to being a helper, which as some of you may know, can be a bit challenging.  It's hard to "let it go" and be there to offer the help that is needed without wanting to take over when things are not going the way I would necessarily plan them. ;)  That being said, my "boss" is doing a great job.  He's really wonderful at keeping the kiddos' attention and transitioning nicely between songs and activities.  A lot of it is "go with the flow" and basically planned as opposed to my over-planned methods of running things, so that's been a bit of a stretch for me.  In a good way, though. ;)

Speaking of "letting it go", a funny story from today.  "A" (my partner in crime aka "boss" from up front) was talking about our verse for the week (Psalm 119:105), and about how God's Word is there to guide us.  Then he asked the kids, "So what song do you think we are going to sing next to help us remember our verse?"  The answer was "Thy Word", but one little girl innocently chirped: "Let it Go?"  Needless to say, most of the leaders were cracking up. ;)

In other news, I have a few little things up on eBay right now (four listings, to be exact).  I'm trying to slowly ease myself back into the whole eBay thing, as I have lots to list in the coming weeks. :}  If you'd like to check things out, you can see my listings HERE.

Oh, and I apologize for the two listings that mention the My Little Pony and Vintage Barbie Pamphlet listings I'm "going to list this weekend".  I didn't get around to those, and I couldn't edit the two listings that already had bids.  I'm hoping to get the MLPs and pamphlets up with the next batch of stuff. ;)

I guess that's about all for now.  I hope you guys have a great week and are staying cooler than we are here (it's over 100 degrees outside and about 84 degrees in my hallway). :{

Talk to you when the whirlwind week is up! ;)

I have to ask - did you find Maleficent at Tuesday Morning? She was the only one my TM *didn't* have! (I have to be good and save Funko money for the upcoming Frozen line - hopefully they will be released by Gen Con, and hopefully Elsa won't be sold out by the time I get through the crowd to the Funko booth!)

Best of luck with VBS!

Hi Jen!

Yes, I found her at Tuesday Morning. :) Oh, and I totally hear you about the Frozen Funko line! :) Did you know they're available for pre-order on Amazon.com? You can find them HERE. Just thought I'd mention it since you're worried about getting Elsa. ;)

Thanks! I think the week will go really well. :)

hi beastsbelle! do you know if the AG samantha doll on amazon is worth it’s price of $350? or should i wait til fall when she comes out again? i dont have $350 yet though... i’m not even close, however i could get to 110 dollars quite easily. i got a mystery book of samanthas from my libary and i love the story, and now i really want the doll too! hah, i’m so impatient.
thanks

Hi Addy and Emma! I haven't seen Maleficent yet, but I've heard it was very well done. :)

Anonymous #1, that's a really good question. :) I haven't tried Ever After High clothing on my Pullip yet, but I'll do so and let you know. :) I'm thinking that my Pullip is a little wider through the body than the EAH dolls, so I doubt the clothes will fit. It would be good to know, though. :)

Anonymous #2, I would definitely recommend waiting and NOT getting the Samantha doll at that price. Amazon has great prices on some things, but $350 for an AG doll is way too much. You'd definitely do better waiting 'til fall. If you didn't want to wait that long, you could definitely get a nice used Samantha in good condition on eBay for far less!

Hope this helps! :)

Hi! I wanted to know if the doll hairbrush for AG dolls is truly needed! Because I’m saving up for Julie and her accessories, but shipping is 16.95$ and with the doll hairbrush that’s 153.95$, but I have 3.83$, so that would be 150.12$. Anyway, I’m loosing my train of thought, so is the doll hairbrush needed, because I have tons of hairbrushes around my house, from H4H doll brushes, MLP brushes, and actual human brushes, which the only difference would be that te AG brush have wire bristles and mine have plastic, but I didn’t think that would cause any trouble. What do you think?

So I’m the anonymous who posted on the Toys R Us haul post. I will now be known as “Mahogany1960” okay?
Cause I just found the name/url thing and that allows me to put a name, but the URL is optional. ANyway, I’m the one who was asking about RAhel’s outfit and Zelia, remember?
Anyway, my mom just surprised me with an AG Samantha! And guess what... I checked, she’s a pleasant company one, she’s got the soft eye lashes, and soft eyebrows and everything! I’m so happy! The only SLIGHT problem is that she’s shoeless, but that’s fine! (My aunt sent over some “My life” shoes, but they were too small. )She has her meet dress and original black tights! I’m so happy! I’ve been carrying her around and hugging her since I’ve gotten her! Which was only around an 1 hour or 30 minutes ago! Her hair is a little tangly as she has been owned before, but her joints are perfectly tight! She’s so beautiful! I’ve never held an american girl doll before! Haven’t seen one in person either. Anyway, so my mom and I are going to find her original shoes, and get an AG brush from their website. I’m so excited, she’ll be a great big sister for my Zelia doll! (Of course Zelia is a bit more skinny, and her head is much smaller, but I don’t CARE!) I’m gonna have so much fun with the two of them for many years to come!
P.S. Other Anonymous asking about Samantha, I agree with beastsbelle, I think you should wait and save your money, my Samantha is in good condition and didn’t cost too much, I bet you could find a good condition Samantha for a great price! Maybe check goodwill, too!

Cathy, thanks for stopping by. It's great to "meet" you! :) I wish you well in all of your fun sewing adventures. :D It's great to find another "kindred spirit". :)

Hi Anonymous. You don't necessarily have to have an AG BRAND brush, but I would definitely advise you to find a brush with wire bristles for your doll's hair. Plastic bristles can damage an AG doll's hair, and hairbrushes that have been used by humans can leave oils on a doll's hair that will damage it.

My very favorite AG doll brushes I've found on eBay. It's this one HERE There are quite a few of these brushes on eBay. I actually prefer them to AG brushes because they're bigger and easier to work with. They've also lasted longer than my AG brand brushes. :) I definitely would NOT use a plastic bristled brush, though.

Hope this helps! :)

Hi Sweetiepie209 and Kit! Sorry to keep you waiting for so long. Maggie should have a post up by the end of the week! :)

Congratulations, Mahogany1960! Samantha is a beautiful doll! :D How wonderful to find a pre-Mattel one, too! :) I hope you and Samantha and Zelia have a lot of fun together! :D
