Toys R Us Trip and Haul (Shopkins, Zelfs, and More!)

Yesterday afternoon, after my weekly writing time with my writing friend at the library, my mom took the girls and I on a mini road trip to the closest Toys R Us. :)

Little Gal, Oldest Gal, and Middle Gal, ready to shop! :)
Okay, and I just have to say, this picture cracks me up.  This is in no way what they were feeling at the time, but Little Gal looks wistful and dreamy, Oldest Gal looks ready to begin an important quest, and Middle Gal looks like she's just ready for the picture to be over so she can go shopping. ;)  Do you guys see it too?

I really miss having a Toys R Us in our own town, but at least there's still one a couple of hours away.  It probably saves me a lot of money to not have a local Toys R Us, too. ;)

We had a lot of fun looking at all of the toys.  The girls had a bit of spending money from our recent garage sale (and some extra from Grandma, too), so they had fun deciding how to spend it. :)

When we were done shopping, we had dinner at In-N-Out.

And since In-N-Out just HAPPENED to be in the same parking lot as Krispy Kreme, and the Hot Light happened to be on, we had to stop by Krispy Kreme, too! ;)  Do you see Mermalade?

She decided to sit in the "O"' for a while. ;)

It's always fun when the Hot Light is on at Krispy Kreme because you can watch the doughnuts being made.  The girls (and Mermalade) really enjoyed seeing the whole process. :)

We got two dozen doughnuts (one for each of us and some to take back home and share with family).

Yum!!

We all enjoyed our tasty treats. ;)

So here's my haul from the trip. :)

Toys R Us had a major clearance going (an extra 70% off the marked price), so I got Rahel and Dell's outfit sets for just around $3 each.  I'm not going to be reviewing either one, since I've already done reviews in the past.  However, I've always loved the outfits and especially the accessories from these sets, and the ones we purchased earlier were for my daughters.  I'm looking forward to using these for my own Hearts For Hearts Girls dolls. :)

Rahel's School Time Play Set (you can see my earlier review HERE).

Dell's Come A-Callin' Play Set (you can see my earlier review HERE).

I was thrilled to find a medium Dorothy-Doe Zelf at Toys R Us.  I wasn't sure if I'd like her at first, but after seeing Middle Gal's Dorothy Doe in person, I decided she would be a fun addition to my collection. :)

Mine had a few shiny marks on her face that didn't come off even after cleaning, but I didn't mind too much.  She's still super cute. :)

I love her white spots and her little deer tail. :)

Sadly, they were completely out of Lil' Zelf eggs (I'm still trying to find a Lil' Kitsu).  But they did have...

...SHOPKINS!!! :D

My mom was really sweet and paid for a  twelve pack Shopkins set for me (as my trip souvenir). :)  Some of these are the ones that were in my pack originally, and the others were the result of the huge Shopkins swap the girls and I held after we got back home last night. ;)

Here are Gran Jam, Ghurty, Wishes (Ultra Rare!!), and Pa' Pizza (Special Edition Frozen, and the reason I chose the specific pack I got).

Here we have Crispy Chip, Mini Muffin, Flutter Cake, and Chee Zee.

Miss Mushy-Moo, Yo-Chi (Special Edition Frozen), and Suds. :)

Here are Sally Shakes and Silky.

So these are the special ones I've found so far.  All of these aside from Pa' Pizza were blind bag ones (D'lish Donut was in one of the two pack blind bags, and Wishes and Yo-Chi were my blind bag Shopkins that came in my twelve pack.)

While we're on the subject of Shopkins (and before I forget to mention it), I added a few new pics to my earlier Shopkins review.  I had a reader ask me whether or not the 18" dolls could use the shopping baskets, so I thought it would be a good idea to include pictures of several different doll lines with the Shopkins accessories.  I hope you find it helpful! :)

Here's what the girls ended up with.  Each of them had $10 to spend for this trip. :)

This is Oldest Gal's stuff.

She already had a Snips Blind Bag figure and asked me if I could find a Snails for her (I've become quite an expert at the art of feeling who the characters are through the bag). ;)  Snails was there, so she decided to add him to her collection.  She thought it was kind of silly that all they really said about Snails on the card was that he was the best friend of Snips.

She also bought a five pack of Shopkins.  After the trades were completed, she ended up with Flutter Cake, Strawberry Kiss, Bubbles...

...Jelly B, and Rainbow Bite.

Oldest Gal still had around two dollars left, but decided she'd rather save them than spend them. :)

Little Gal opted for getting one more expensive item rather than several less expensive items, and bought a mini Mooshka at the Target next to Toys R Us.  She's had her eye on these for a while, and she loves small things to take along with her, so this was a good choice.  She had a little over a dollar left to put in her piggy bank. :)

Here's Middle Gal's loot.

She decided to get a Lalaloopsy pony at Target since they were on sale for around $3.  This one is called Waffles.

She also got into the Shopkins craze, buying a five pack and a two pack.  Somehow, she ended up with an extra for the pictures, but things got a little confusing with the trading last night (and she already had some). :}

Here we have Scrubs, Lippy Lips, Toofs, Posh Pear, Ghurty...

...Bubbles, Sally Shakes, and Curly.  Middle Gal had no money left (she spends on trips like her mother). :}

We had a great time on our trip and made lots of fun memories to share.  My mom ended up with a few Shopkins of her own (I think her collection is the biggest so far!).  It's so much fun sharing these fun hobbies and interests through three generations. :)

Hope you guys have a great 4th of July weekend!

You're such lucky ducks! :D So jealous! I want all of those Shopkins. Hehe. Yet I'm going to Disney World, alas all I need in my Elsa collection is the Singing Doll, coin purse and plush doll. How I wish that it wasn't sold out all the time. ):

Our nearest Toys R Us has an In N Out near it too! I'll have to go check out the clearance soon.

But you shouldn't have to feel through the bags for which pony is in the blind bag! http://www.strawberryreef.com/Index/G4/IndexBB.html

Hi! Nice haul, shopkins are so cute! I really love your blog, and I’m a Christian too!
I really want a hearts for hearts doll, Zelia, specifically, are they good quality? I’m still kind of a kid, so would she hold up to gentle play? I mean, I won’t be throwing her across the room, like my little sister does to her dolls.
I’m 12, in January I’ll be 13, but I still play with my toys! I don’t care what anyone thinks! Plus, I found Zelia, and she just kinda stole my heart, I only have a few dollars in my allowance, but I’m doing lots of chores for my parents, not only for the money though, chores are really fun! I’m also thinking of saving up enough money to either buy two dolls, (Zelia and Consuelo...Or Mosi. I can’t pick between those two!) or buy Zelia and Rahel’s school outfit, because I love playing school.
Whew. That was a lot of talking. (I love to talk!)
My questions are:
Are Hearts for hearts dolls good quality?
Will they hold up to gentle play?
Is Rahel’s school outfit good quality?

Hey, All AG, I'd take Disney World over Shopkins any day. ;) I hope you have a wonderful time!

It is frustrating that the Frozen merchandise has had such a problem staying in stock. I just try to keep reminding myself that eventually things will catch up and we'll all hopefully be able to find the things we're missing for our collections. ;)

Hi Shannon! That would be fun if it was the same one. ;)

Boy, do I feel sheepish. I knew that the older blind bags had codes, and I'd even heard something about the new ones being identifiable by the outsides of their packaging, but I always forgot to look into it. Lol, I've even used that very page as a reference before. :} Thanks for pointing that out. It will be super helpful to be able to easily identify Flash Sentry and Cheese Sandwich when the new wave is released. ;)

Hi Anonymous. Thanks for stopping by! :) I'm glad you enjoyed the post. :)

In answer to your questions:

1. I really love the Hearts For Hearts Girls dolls and feel that they are excellent quality for their price. Obviously, a doll that costs $24.99 is not going to be the same quality as a doll that costs $100, but I've been the most pleased with the Hearts For Hearts Girls out of all of the play dolls in the same price range that I've reviewed. I especially love the quality of their hair. You can see my earlier reviews of Zelia HERE and HERE if you'd like to see more pictures and more of my thoughts on Zelia specifically.

2. They definitely hold up well to gentle play, especially the dolls with straight hair like Zelia's. My youngest daughter, who is six and not that gentle, has a Lilian doll from the line and even when the doll's hair looks crazy after playtime, I'm always able to get it looking nice again. :)

3. Rahel's outfit is good quality, but you might want to know ahead of time that her skirt, while adorable, is so straight that the dolls can't really sit correctly in it. If you click on the link I included in the post, you'll see my review where I explain this.

Hope this helps, and hope you are able to get your Zelia soon! :D

Thank you, Beastsbell!
I’m the same anonymous that left a comment earlier, with a LOT of questions, haha.
Thanks for the answers! And I’ll definitely check out those links, especially the Zelia review! ;) Infact, that’s where I’m heading right now!
Thanks again!

What fun! I love hearing about your adventures with your Mom and children. My daughter and I share the love of dolls and unique toys too :) You are so lucky to find the clothing packs for Hearts for Hearts dolls! We have two Toys R Us one 45 minutes in one direction and one 45 minutes in the opposite direction and neither one has had any Hearts for Hearts dolls or accessories in over a year. We do have two Targets next to them and they do carry about 3 dolls at any given time but they never have the clothing packs. I've seen Dell's clogging dress pack on Amazon for around $34, which is just way to much. Happy to know they are out there and maybe one day I will find them :) Enjoyed the review! Happy 4th of July!

It's so nice that you can share your love of dolls and toys with your mother and daughters. My mother thinks it's silly for a 32 year old to buy dolls lol and my son is 2 and into cars and stuff so I have nobody to play with. :(

Thank you for the extra pictures in the last post. I think the shopping basket looks best on the Liv doll. I was imagining the Shopkins were bigger.

Yesterday, my little sister opened a blind bag, and it was none other than... SNAILS! I thought it was so cool that my little sister got Snails, a few minutes after I read this post. I also used the link Shannon provided and found out my little sister has Junebug, and Princess Twilight Sparkle in her 2 other bags that she hasn’t opened yet. I love watching her open gifts, so I can’t wait to give her the other two! I know she will love them, especially Twilight Sparkle, which is her second favorite, second being Pinkie Pie, and what’s funny is that her and Pinkie Pie are incredibly similar!

You're welcome, Anonymous. Hope it helps you make your decision. :)

Thanks, Michele. So glad you enjoyed the post. :)

I do love having family members of all ages to share this hobby with me. It's been a fun way for us to bond even more. :)

I was thrilled to find those Hearts For Hearts Girls outfits. Those were the only H4H items in stock at Toys R Us. My local Target usually has two to three dolls on hand, and that's about it. I'm hoping this line continues...and like you, I'm not interested in paying $34 for an outfit set! :}

Aileen, I'm sorry you don't have anyone to enjoy your doll stuff with. If you were closer, we'd invite you to come over and play! ;)

I'm glad you found the pictures helpful. It's amazing how having another doll or toy line in the picture can really help us visualize a new toy line better, isn't it? Thanks for asking about it! :)

How fun, Danica! :) I'm glad that Shannon shared that link so we can all benefit from it. :) Hope your sister enjoys the rest of her blind bag ponies! :D

Hello, Beastsbelle! I found your blog quite a while ago and have followed it ever since, this is my first comment on your blog, I am also a doll collector.

Is the mini Mooshka wood or plastic? It truly looks like wood. I am asking this because I love wooden dolls and toys, and have quite a lot of them. A collection, you could say. ;] If it is plastic, I am definitely getting one.

Loving the shopkins! I may have to get some myself, do they sell them at Target?

I am really excited to see more posts! (Of course, I’m not trying to rush you or anything!)

We are so behind that we didn't even know about shopkins! They are really cute and we may have to look for some. Thanks for the post and review.

You're welcome, Kiki! :) These have only been out for a month at the very most, if that. I myself just found out about them a couple of weeks ago through my mom. :)

Hi Marcela! It's so nice to "meet" you. ;) Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

The mini Mooshka is made of plastic, although she looks like a wooden doll. She's really adorable in person. I'm hoping to help Little Gal do a review on her later this month.

Yes, the Shopkins can be found at Target as well as Toys R Us. My local Target only has a few so far, but I'm assuming they'll get more in eventually. :)

Posting will be pretty sparse this coming week (more on that in a quickee update post tomorrow), but after that I'll be back on track! :)

Hello, Beast'sBelle! I love your blog. It is very creative. I enjoy toys and dolls as much as you do.
I really like the adorable little Shopkins. But I was wondering if you have heard of Disney's new line of plushies. It is called "Tsum Tsum". They are cute little stuffed animals based on the app. They can be stacked and are adorable. They are available in the Disney store.

Hi Beastsbelle! I’m the anonymous that posted about getting Zelia and stuff...
Well, I did lots of chores, and I FINALLY GOT HER!!! :D
There were only 2 dolls at target, Zelia and Nahji, I didn’t have enough to get both, though.
She is so cute! Sadly, they didn’t have any clothing, so I grabbed an our generation puppy dog with leash, (just her size! Looks better with her than with the our generation dolls, cause their so big, and the puppies are so small.) Anyway, I’m so exciteD!!!

Hi Anonymous #1. ;) I'm so glad you're enjoying the blog. :)

I have seen the Tsum Tsum toys from the Disney Store and am still deciding whether or not I like them. ;) They're cute from the front, but I'm not sure I'm completely sold on their pillowy bodies and little feet from the side. I think I'd like to see them in person and then decide what I think. ;)

Hi Anonymous #2. I'm so glad you were able to get your Zelia!

The Our Generation puppies would be just right for the Hearts For Hearts Girls! Great idea. :)

Hope you enjoy her! :)

Beastsbelle, I LOVE your delightful blog and have learned so much from it about dolls! Thanks for taking the time to post so much.

Any chance I could pay you to get me some of those bargain "Hearts for Hearts" outfits (or dolls) also, if still available? (I especially would like a Lilian or Zelia doll.) I can't find a single Hearts for Hearts item in our area (tried Target, Walmart, Sears, Toys R Us, and all the others they claim sell them). What I have came from sheer luck at thrift stores. I already have Rahel, Consuela, Tipi, and Dell in their (partial) outfits, and would love to fin the two outfits you recently bought--and likely whatever else you can find for around $3-$7. I can send you my email for contact info if you'd consider doing so.

Thanks for such a great site, regardless. I am a retired teacher and homeschooler (grown kids now), and see we have a LOT in common by reading your posts. :-)

Colleen, thank you so much for your sweet comment. :) I would love to help you out on the Hearts For Hearts Girls outfits, but my mom and I purchased three of the last four sets that were there, and I usually don't get back to that Toys R Us more than once every couple of months. If I happen to run across something, I'll try to keep you in mind. I know how hard it is to find Hearts for Hearts Girls merchandise at a good price. If you want to email me, we can discuss it further. :)

I'm glad you're enjoying the blog so much. Reading comments like yours always make my day and remind me why I love blogging so much. :)
