Our Generation "Plaid to Meet You" Playset

While browsing through Target a week or so ago, I happened to spot this little set in the Our Generation section:

It's called "Plaid to Meet You", and includes a doll-sized bag, laptop, and pen...well, it's possibly a pen.

Front view of the package.

Back view

Here's everything out of the package.

The bag is made of a leather-look material and a flannel-like material on top.  It has real working clasps that are easy to open and close.

I love the adorable Scottie dog design on the top flap. :)

The bag opens...

...and has enough space to store both of the other items inside.

Here is the cute laptop that comes with the set.  When I first saw the package, I thought this was a notebook or something.  When I realized it was a laptop, I was so excited!  I've been looking for a reasonably-priced doll-sized laptop for a while.

Here's a view of the front when it's closed.

And here it is open.  The screen on the inside is from the Our Generation website.

The side includes indentations that give the impression of the various plug ins on a laptop.

The laptop is marked "Our Generation by Battat" and "Made in China" on the bottom.

And here is what I assumed to be a pen, although I thought it was kind of silly that they didn't put a point on it.  When my mom saw it, she thought that maybe it was supposed to be a stylus for the laptop.

What do you guys think?

The set is very compatible with American Girl dolls.  Here, Charlie shows how she can hold the bag.

The laptop is slightly small for her, at least for a standard-sized laptop.  This doesn't bug me too much, though.  Laptops are getting smaller all the time.  Maybe she's just got a more compact model. ;)

I'm looking forward to incorporating this computer into Tess and Maggie's photostories for their blog.  Of course, now I'll have to come up with another excuse besides "we couldn't get to the computer" when I'm behind on their posts. :}

I'm very happy with this fun little set from Our Generation.  It was just $6.99 and is made well.  If any of your dolls have been begging for a computer of their own, this just might be the perfect thing for you. ;)

Shortly after I purchased this set and before I managed to get around to reviewing it, Emily at The Toy Box Philosopher did her own blog review.  I thought I'd link it HERE since she had a lot more pictures and went into more detail.  Enjoy! :)

Hehe! I see you couldn't resist this either. I bought one for my Danny (Gotz Precious Day doll). I think it's adorable, and it's NOT pink! Hope your dolls enjoy.

A doll computer at that price is hard to pass up. ;)

I hope Danny is enjoying hers! ;)

That is super cute! DD loves all things lunch box and school supply, so I can definitely see this coming home with us. Thanks for the review :)

This is off the subject, but I own that hiking outfit that your doll is wearing in this review. How well does it fit your doll??? I have two older American Girls and that outfit does not fit at all. One of my Alexander girls ended up with it.

I've been looking all over for this set! I love it!

You're welcome, Steph. :) Glad you enjoyed the review.

Hi Ms. Style. Thanks for stopping by. I thought it was adorable myself. :)

Hi RagingMoon 1987. The shirt fits my AGs okay, but the shorts don't at all (Charlie's wearing a different pair in this photo). I actually did a review of the entire ensemble in an earlier post. You can see it here: http://nevergrowupdollguide.blogspot.com/2013/06/madame-alexander-my-life-as-doll-outfit.html

Hope this helps! :)

Hi Nina! I hope you find this soon! :)

But are they 'their' generation, or mine? Because that bag (I know it's supposed to be a lap top bag.)looks just like the book bags I used to carry to school, right down to the plaid flap and the buckles. (Although they were real buckles in my day. Man I'm old!)Maybe that is a stylus, because why would you need a lap top, a lap top bag, and....a pen? When I saw it I immediately thought 'book bag',so a pen made sense. But since it's a lap top bag, maybe not.By the way, I was trying to make one of those book bags recently for my smaller dolls. Looked more like a purse.

Great post! Maybe it ia a "netbook"! Very cool.

Hi Tam! I definitely agree that a stylus would make more sense than a pen for this particular set.

I love the look of the bag. It must be fun for you to see something that resembles what you used to use. For me, it would be a doll-sized Jansport backpack with pins stuck all over it. ;) It's amazing how things come back in style again. :)

Thanks, Jen. I was trying to think of the correct name for a smaller laptop. It does make the perfect size for a netbook, doesn't it? :)

I love your dolls boots ! Are they homemade ? :)

Thanks, Lindsey. I won the boots from The Crazy Doll Lady. I'm not sure if she made them or just sells them. You can see her Etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/TheCrazyDollLady

She has an online store as well, but it's currently under maintenance.

I know I've seen boots like these on eBay as well. You might just try searching "cowboy boots for American Girl doll" or something along that line.
