Emma Woodhouse Dress @ Doll Clothes of Yore

Hey guys!  Just wanted to do a quick update for those of you who liked my "Emma Woodhouse" dress from Doll Clothes of Yore.  Emily mentioned on her blog that she has about 6 of these dresses available again.  She found more of the material she used to make them, so now 6 more fortunate customers will get to have an Emma dress of their own.  :)  Follow the link HERE to start shopping. :)

I almost forgot...I got an email from the Doll Clothes of Yore website, saying they have some new designs and several outfits on clearance for 15% off.  I had fun taking a quick peek and thought I'd share the news with all of you.  Maggie was very excited to see that one of the new dresses is an Eowyn dress from "The Lord of the Rings". :)

I've included a direct link to the clearance items HERE, and a link to the main website HERE.  There are new designs in the Medieval, Renaissance, Colonial, Civil War, and Edwardian categories.  Have fun browsing!! :)

New Regency Clothing at Doll Clothes of Yore! :)

The new Regency clothing items have just appeared on the "Doll Clothes of Yore" site.   Three more lovely additions!  My favorite by far is Lydia's Going-Out Set, which includes a beautiful blue Spencer jacket and a cream bonnet accented with ribbons and roses.  This is sooo going at the top of my wishlist...Emma would love it! :)

I also loved Emily's other two new installments:  the Harriet Smith dress and Jane's Nighttime set, which includes a chemise and dressing gown.  Both are stunning. :)

Yay!! I love Regency clothes!! :)  Be sure to follow the links and take a look at these beautiful doll clothes.

Tax Return Goodies

Yesterday felt like Christmas again.  Both of the doll dresses I ordered with my tax return spending money came! :)  I got some great pics that I can't wait to share with you.

So first off, we have the adorable plaid holiday dress from Pottery Barn kids.  This dress is sooo cute.  The style is a bit juvenile for the ages I've assigned to my dolls, but they humored me and tried it on anyway. :)

I love the tulle underneath that makes the skirt poof out so far.  It reminds me of some of the dresses I've gotten as hand-me-downs for my daughters.  [I just noticed how different the coloring looks between all of Tess's pictures and Emma's pictures.  I have no clue why my camera did that.  The coloring is closer to Emma's pictures, in my opinion.]

The dress came with soft, velvety shoes as well, but I think they were designed more for PBK's cloth dolls.  They were way too big for my dolls.  The dress itself was worth the great sale price, though.

I tried the dress on Tess first, but then decided to try it on Emma as well.  Tess's body is a lot thicker than an AG body, so I wanted to give an accurate picture of how it fit for all of you AG collectors.  As you can see, it looks great on both of them.

I'd really like to try this dress on Charlie.  I think it would look great with her coloring.

Next, we have my BEAUTIFUL Regency dress from Doll Clothes of Yore.  Emma was really excited to finally have a Regency dress of her own.  She's been eyeing Tess's for quite some time. :)

For those of you considering purchasing from Doll Clothes of Yore, I thought it important to mention that my dress was not the exact same dress as the one pictured.  I don't know if this is the case with every dress, but I just wanted you to be aware.  The differences were minimal; it was almost the same dress.  The colors and trim were the same.  The lace around the collar was different, and the biggest difference was the bow at the center of the empire waist.  Here's a comparison of the two:

I didn't care for the bow in the center, especially since I wasn't expecting it, so I removed it and used it as a coordinating hair ribbon.  It was well-sewn, but fairly easy to remove.

So here are some pics of Emma in her new dress.  The color looks great with her skin tone and eye color.  It's one of those dresses that seems to change color depending on what background it's against.  It actually looks a lot greener in person, but photographed against the darker green background, it looks more blue.  (Oh, and for those of you interested, I got the idea for Emma's hairstyle from this Youtube video, a tutorial for human hair.)

And here are some pics of my two Regency girls.  Tess is planning on doing a new series of posts on the blog she shares with Maggie.   It's going to be called "Tea with Tess" and will feature special topics and special guests.  Keep checking back on Tess and Maggie's blog.  She's hoping to get the post up today or tomorrow. :)    UPDATE:  Tess just posted her first "Tea with Tess". :)  You can get there by clicking the link HERE.  Enjoy!! :)

Doll Clothes of Yore

This week I found a great doll site, thanks to The Miniature Historian's blog. :)  It's called Doll Clothes of Yore.  I looked at the site and instantly fell in love. :)

We got our federal income tax return already, so I had a bit of spending money. :D  At first, I was really tempted to get the Celtic Princess dress from Carpatina dolls that's been on my wish list:

I love Celtic style dresses like this one.  My hubby pointed out that this would make a good dress for Eowyn from the Lord of the Rings.  Maybe Maggie will end up with an Eowyn dress instead of an Arwen dress. :)  Eowyn's personality is a little more like Maggie's than Arwen's anyway.

I am definitely planning on adding this dress to my doll collection in the future.  But it's not what I bought this time. :)  Once I found Dolls of Yore, I oohed and aahhed over all of the beautiful gowns for a while.  And then I saw this particular dress:

It was such a beautifully done Regency dress.  I've been looking for another Regency gown for my Emma doll, since she's another Jane Austen fan.  The dress was even called the "Emma Woodhouse" dress, and Emma Woodhouse is who my Emma is named after!  It was the very last one, not to be reproduced.  I just couldn't resist!!  It was too perfect.  I ordered it yesterday, and it should be here within a week.  Yay!!

There are so many other beautiful gowns on the site.  Emily Marsh, who makes and sells all of the doll clothes, has a creative site with a great selection of dresses from different time periods.  Many of the dresses are named after historical or literary characters.  And to add to the fun, you can click on the word "History" next to each dress and get some historical facts about the dress and the time period it is from.  Emily also has a blog. You can find the link on her Doll Clothes of Yore homepage.

With her permission, I've copied the pics of some of my favorite dresses to share with you here.  Be sure to visit her site and see all that she has to offer! :)

"Off to the Faire"
I LOVE this dress!!  I've always enjoyed Renaissance style dresses, and this one really captured my attention.  I love the look of the drawstring vest over the white peasant blouse.  Emma would look great in this, too!  I almost bought this instead of the Emma dress, but in the end I decided that since I'd been looking for a Regency dress and it was the last one, it made more sense to go with that.  I'm hoping to add this one to my collection eventually, though. :)

"Nicole Dress"
Another beautiful Renaissance dress.  I love the blues in this one.

"Georgiana's Gown"

"Abigail Adams Dress"
The above dresses are just two examples of some of her lovely dresses from the Colonial period.  These would make great extra gowns for Elizabeth or Felicity.

"Southern Belle Dress"
Here is one of Emily's beautiful Civil War Era dresses.  :)

"Prairie Ensemble"
If your doll is ready to head out west with the Pioneers, this dress is just perfect. :)

"Elsie's Party Dress" (there's only one of these ones left!)

Holiday Rose Dress
Here are two of the beautiful Victorian styles you can find on the site.  I'm wondering if the "Elsie" in Elsie's Party dress refers to Elsie Dinsmore. :)

"Diana's Picnic Dress"
This dress is based off of the dress that Diana Barry wears to the Sunday Picnic in the TV miniseries of "Anne of Green Gables".

"Dragonfly Jeans Outfit"
Here's a cute ensemble for your Julie doll. :)

There are lots of other great outfits to see, so stop by Doll Clothes of Yore and see them for yourself!
