Frozen Blog Party: Another Elsa Sketch

Hey guys!  So I was working on a profound Frozen-themed post about Hans, but it was one of those nights where my thoughts just weren't coming together, and everything sounded jumbled and nonprofound. ;)  Since I have to be awake for art tomorrow and I'm losing brain cells by the minute, I decided I'd save that post for later. ;)

Last Tuesday, the kiddos had "free draw" (where I let them draw whatever they want during art class), so I did a little free drawing of my own. ;)  I had just done my Elsa and Anna header the night before, so I wanted to try drawing Elsa again, from memory and without any pictures for reference, and see how I could do.  This is what I came up with:

I was pretty pleased with all I remembered.  My art students were impressed, too...well, at least the girls were. ;)  I had several girls ask if they could keep the picture. (I didn't let any of them keep it since I only had one.) ;)

Elsa is so much fun to draw!

I love doing her light freckles and her large, expressive eyes.

Her hair is really fun to capture, too. ;)

This blog party has given me the lovely excuse to doodle and draw some of my favorite characters.  I still want to try another Anna sometime...maybe tomorrow during art. ;)

Well, no more blogging for tonight...off to bed I go!  Hopefully my Hans post will cooperate with me tomorrow. ;)

Oh my, she's gorgeous! I love drawing Elsa, too, although mine are not nearly as beautiful as yours and I always need a reference picture. You can see one of them on my blog... I also love capturing Elsa's lovely hair. :)

Very nice drawing! Maybe you could do some Olaf's for your students eventually. ;)

I understand, busy and tired, that should be my life. And tomorrow, of tomorrow I'll be surprised if I live through tomorrow,

First, I have an orthodontist opointment, which will mean I get to do other stuff as well. Then we have to pick up our barn cat from the vet, then that evening I have church.

Busy, busy, busy.

That's fantastic, and from memory too! I can't blame your students at all for wanting it - if I was in that classroom I would join that clamor.

Would you ever consider drawing Elsa and Anna in single line contour? It's one of my favorite drawing techniques but somehow my figures never turn out the way I'd planned, so I would love to see how you do it.

Thanks so much, everyone! I'm glad you enjoyed the sketch. :)

Ampy, I got the frost effect on ribbet.com, my favorite photo editing site. :)

N, I'm not sure I'm brave enough to try single line contour, but if I ever do, I'll be sure to let you know here on the blog. ;)

Sorry I don't have the time to respond to each of you individually, but thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. :)
