Doll Party Prep & Doll Goodies

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my oldest daughter's "Dolly and Me" birthday party is coming up this Saturday.  I'm starting to get really excited about it, although I'm not looking forward to the clean-up in preparation for it.  Boy, is my work cut out for me in that department!  One of these days, perhaps, I'll be an organized housekeeper.  But I suppose by the time I figure it out, I'll be too old to care. :)

Anyway, I thought I'd share some of the party treats I've found for the goodie bags, especially since I just found a couple of them today.  It's more likely that you could find them in your neck of the woods since I purchased them so recently. :)

Another title for this post could be:  "Doll Party on a Shoestring Budget".  Most of these things I found at Dollar Tree or Walmart.  You don't have to spend a bunch on name-brand AG items to find some great doll accessories.

Here's a pic of Katie with all of the "loot".  I thought it was about time she got some recognition in my pics, poor girl. :)

And now, for those of you who'd like to see things a wee bit closer, ;) I've taken pics of each of the individual items:

These are some cute little Lisa Frank clacker/noisemakers from Dollar Tree.  They're just cheap plastic and cardboard, but they're cute, the perfect size for dolls, and I got 6 of them for $1.  Can't beat that! :)

At Walmart, they have cute little packs of 2 food puzzle erasers for $1 each.  Each girl will get 1 package in their goodie bag.

On eBay, I found a seller who had 2 sets of coordinating Silly Bandz, one for dolls and one for girls.  The doll Silly Bandz are actually just the mini Silly Bandz, or Silly Bandz rings.  I don't remember what I paid for these, but Silly Bandz are easy enough to find. :)

Here's Katie, modeling her Silly Bandz.

I know I've mentioned these before, but I thought I'd share them with you again.  (I just realized, I think I mentioned the Lisa Frank clackers before, too.  Oh well.  You know, you get close to 30 and the mind just is not what it once was!) :}
I found these little Disney Princess key chain journals at Dollar Tree in packs of 4.  So for 25 cents, your doll can have her own little journal.  Each of my daughter's party guests will get one.  Before Saturday, I'll remove the key chain attachment.  The pack I found came with Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella, Belle and Ariel, so you get some variety in each package.

Here's what they look like inside.

Dollar Tree also had these sets of hair accessories.  Each little girl will get two matching claws and two matching hair bands.  They can decide whether to use them for themselves, their dolls, or keep one for themselves and use the other for their doll. :)  I think it's unnecessary to say this (unless you're like me and space out that you're at DOLLAR TREE so everything is ONE DOLLAR!!!), but these were a dollar for each package.

Today at Walmart, they had a sale on their mini cereal packs.  You got a pack of 8 for $2.98.  I hadn't purchased any food items for the goodie bags yet, and thought this would be perfect.  Now all of the girls can take their cereal home and eat it, and then use the empty box as a doll prop. :)  The scale isn't quite right, but it's pretty close.

I think this is one of the finds I'm the most excited about! :)  Walmart currently has a section full of little goodies for Easter baskets.  For just $2, they had packs of 4 of these little miniature Uno games.  They're almost the perfect scale for AG dolls!

Here is one of the cards next to Katie's hand, so you can see the perfect size. :)

As you can see from the pic above, it's an actual Uno game with all of the cards (even the Wild cards!) and instructions for play on the back of the box.  And the cards feel like real playing cards, with the glossy finish.  I was totally expecting cheapo paper cards inside.  What a pleasant surprise! :)

Here's the back of one of the stack of cards.  Doesn't it look just like the real thing? :)  Each girl will get an Uno game in her goodie bag, too.

I forgot to include these in the group picture, but these are the leftover stickers from eBay.  Each girl will get one strip of the circle stickers and one strip of the full body stickers. :)

While I was at Walmart, I also found a few goodies for me. :)  First was this set of 4 mini puzzle erasers (also for $1, unless they were in the wrong place).  It included this bottle of nail polish.

As you can see from this picture, it comes apart like a real nail polish bottle.  The tip of the lid even has a little red point that looks like the brush you'd find in a nail polish bottle. :)

The eraser set also included this pretend lipstick tube.

Katie enjoyed trying a new look. ;)

This bottle of mascara was another one of the puzzle erasers.  It's similar to the nail polish in that it comes apart.

Adding some length to her lashes! :)

Here's the bottle...

...and here it is with the lid on.

The last eraser in the set was this bottle of lip gloss that is supposed to be overflowing.  I was thinking I might try cutting the overflow part off.

I've been eyeing this mini "Bop it" game for a while and finally caved today.  It's $10 at Walmart.  The girls (my real girls, that is) ;) and I enjoy playing the big version, so I thought it would be fun getting one for our dolls, too.  The cool thing about this game is that it really works! :)

Here's a closer look.  This game is fun, but it can be really stressful, too! :}

Conveniently, I had an extra Uno game or two, so I got to keep one for myself! :D  So, Katie's all set.  Now she just needs some friends to play games with her.

Hmmm, I'm thinking these may have to be featured in a future post on Tess and Maggie's blog. :)

Thanks for being my model today, Katie! :)

Have any of you found some great doll goodies lately?  There's a lot of little miniature things out there right now because of Easter.  So take a gander at the Easter aisle in some of your local stores and use your imagination.  Who knows what you'll find? :)

As far as the party goes, I'll be sure to do a post sometime next week on how everything went. :)

Cute stuff! You've got great ideas and that's funny I was at my Mommom's house and she had the little cereal boxes and she let me bring some home for my dolls :)

This will be such fun for all the little girls attending. Such great ideas for things to take home and enjoy and remind them of how much fun they had at your daughter's "Dolly and Me" birthday party.

Kudos to you, Mom!!!!!!!

Thanks, Nanci. :) I thrive on stuff like this: finding doll-sized goodies for a cheaper price. It's like taking part in a scavenger hunt. :)

I'm really looking forward to Saturday. :)
