A Fairy Tale Blog Party

In celebration of my 2 Year Blogoversary, I decided it was time to do another blog party.  I debated on the theme for a while, but then I had the perfect idea!  Since I'm in fairy tale mode myself, due to the novels I'm working on, I thought that a fairy tale themed blog party would be just right! :)

So, here are the basics:

1.  There are 11 questions (plus 1 bonus question).  You can answer all of them or just select your favorites.  You can use one word answers or write a whole paragraph.  Feel free to add pictures if you like. :)

2.  I know that most of us are the most familiar with the Disney versions of fairy tales, but in this case I'm thinking specifically of the basic fairy tales that the Disney versions were based on.  Not familiar with the originals? Take a trip to your local library or a bookstore and check out the fairy tale section in the Children's Books.  You might discover a new favorite! :)  If you're not sure if a story qualifies, just ask...or put it in your answers anyway! (For example, if you want to talk about "Alice in Wonderland" or "The Chronicles of Narnia", that works for me!) ;)

3.  I'm not really a stickler on the questions.  If you want to list more or less than is required on some of the questions, or come up with your own variation of the answer, feel free.

4.  If you have a blog, you can answer the questions in a post on your own blog.  Please leave a comment on this post with an address to copy and paste, though.  The best part about a blog party is seeing everybody's answers. :)  Also, if you post about the blog party on your blog, please link back to this post so that your readers can participate as well.

5.  If you don't have your own blog but would still like to participate, you can leave your answers in a comment on this post.

6.  All entrants will be automatically entered for the first of several giveaways I'm hosting this week.  The prize is the original artwork from my "Fairy Tale Faces" collage that I made especially for this post (see the pic above).  If you are not interested in participating in the giveaway, please let me know in your comment.  If you are interested, it would be easiest if you would leave me an email address to contact you in a separate comment.  (If you leave your email address in the same comment with the link to your blog, I will not be able to post it.)  Comment moderation is on, so no one will see your email address but me.  As always, if you're under 18, please get permission from your parents before entering any of my giveaways.  I'll have to get your mailing address to get your prize to you, and I want to make sure that your parents are comfortable with that. :)

7.  If you're not interested in participating in the blog party but still want to be a part of a giveaway, don't worry!  There will be other separate giveaways to come! :)

8.  The blog party will be open until Tuesday, July 31st.  On Wednesday, August 1st, I will do a random drawing of all the entrants' names and announce the winner by that same afternoon (Pacific Time).

9.  Any questions?  Feel free to leave them in a comment below!

10.  Above all...HAVE FUN!! :D

FAIRY TALE BLOG PARTY QUESTIONS:

1.  What is your favorite fairy tale and why?

2.  List your 4 favorite fairy tale heroes or heroines and why you like them.

5.  In your opinion, what makes a good fairy tale?

6.  Who is your favorite fairy tale illustrator?

7.  What is your favorite re-telling of a classic fairy tale and why?

8.  Which fairy tale character is the most like you?

9.  If you could choose to be any fairy tale character, who would you be and why?

10.  If you could have one wish, what would it be?
          a.  that a fairy godmother would come along, give you a dazzling outfit and shoes, and whisk you away to a royal ball
          b.  that you could fly
          c.  that you would discover an enchanted world outside of our own
          d.  that you would be able to go on a grand adventure

11.  If you could find out anything about your favorite fairy tale character outside of the pages of his/her story, what would you want to know?

BONUS QUESTION:
12.  Share a picture of one of your dolls dressed as a fairy tale character. :)

Okay, everyone!  Have at it and have fun. :)  I can't wait to see everybody's answers.  I'll be posting my own in the next day or so.

I made two blog buttons for you to add to your own blogs...feel free to grab them and spread the word!  (By the way, I just have to say, after slaving over these forever I was STILL unable to end up with working buttons.  Then I found this AMAZING site:  http://www.mycoolrealm.com/sandbox/gbgen/  If you've ever struggled with making your own blog buttons with a grab box underneath, you'll definitely want to check this out!  I wish I'd discovered it about 24 hours earlier!) :}

Meanwhile, keep checking back throughout the week for more fun! :)

First, I want to say you revised my questions! :D OK, question time! <3
1. Definitely Beauty and The Beast. She is so kind and sweet, and is not a princess until the end. I love that she melts the Beast's hardened heart through the book. The nice, sweet girl is super wonderful at being kind to anyone. Plus, I mean, who does not love the creativity of everything and everyone is under the spell with the Beast. I <3 Belle!
2. In order: Belle, Snow White, Cinderella and Rapunzel. I love Belle because she is sweet, kind and is not struck by The Beast. She is trying to harden his heart. I love Snow White because she is sweet and loves her stepmother even though she is so mean. I love Cinderella because she has so many stories around the world, and so strong! I could not imagine being bossed around so much. You should see me in the library, I clear out all the fairy tales! I love Rapunzel because she is making the best of the situation from being locked in a tower.
3. Snow White's stepmother. She tried to kill her own stepdaughter. What kind of inhumane person does that?
4. When I was six, I got this book of fairy tales from my mom. I read it 3 times in the next week. Reading it made me want to be a princess like Cinderella and dressed up like one.
5. A good fairy tale is one with mixed emotions. A strong character who helps, heals and a good citizen. An evil character who gives trouble to the character. And of course a happily ever after.
6. I have read and cleared so many fairy tales I do not know which one! I like watercolors and details though, so those illustrators are probably my favorites.
7. Disney's Belle. They made her so lively and fun and caring. I can not help but loving her. I am reading a series about princesses as teens. But Belle is still the best.
8. Belle or Merida. Belle loves reading and is sweet and loving like me. Merida is lively, sarcastic, but also loving and sweet.
9. Belle. I would love to be in a castle with talking objects and Chip. I mean, they are so awesome!
10. C It would be magical!
11. Belle, why was a rose your wish from your father?

Thanks for participating, All AG! :) It was fun reading through your answers.

I'm not sure what you meant by "You revised my questions". If my questions are similar to something you did previously, I apologize. I had no idea. :(

If you're interested, you're also eligible for the giveaway. :)

Hannah Prewett (beastsbelle) said...

I almost forgot...if you're under 18, please get your parents' permission first before getting me your email address. :)

Oh its fine earlier this month I suggested questions for your blog. I have a question, if I enter, does that mean this contest or all of them? Thx.

Hannah Prewett (beastsbelle) said...

Wow...I'd completely forgotten that! :} I feel silly now. Sorry...it's been a long month. ;) Well, thanks for the idea! I must have taken it into account subconsciously when I came up with the questions. :]

If you enter this giveaway, it's just for the artwork at the top of the post. There will be other giveaways that I'll most likely post about either tomorrow or the next day. You're welcome to enter for everything or pick and choose. :)

Alrightie! :) <3
1) What is your favorite fairy tale and why? Definatly Beauty and the beat. Why? Because it gives the message that you love someone for what is on the inside; not the outside
2) List your 4 favorite fairy tale heros or heroines and why you like them? In order: favorite to least: Belle, Little mermaid, Princess Tiania, and Sleeping beauty. I like belle because (see above in question 1), I like little Mermaid because she's so quirky and even a little naive and she dosen't realize how much humans would like to be mermaids! I like princess Tiana because she started out with simple dreams, and in the process figured out what she really needed. I like sleeping beauty because, hmm I really don't know! I guess she just sort of appeals to me! LOL! :D
3) Who in your opinion is the most threatning fairy tale villan? Hard question..... I guess Ursela from little mermaid! * Laughs evily & dramaticly*
4) If applicable, Share something about a favorite faiey tale book you had as a child. What made it so special? When I turned 7, a looooonnnnnggggg time ago, I recieved a fairy tale book along with an olldddd teddy bear that was onced owned by who I believe was my great, great, great, great, grandmother. It had all the main stories from that time and the teddy bear was so soft. That is why it is so special to me.
5) In your opinion, what makes a good fairy tale? There are three thing I believe make a good fairy tale. They are : A happy ending, A good leason to be learned, and a sprinkle of romance ;)
6) I absoulutley can not choose! I like them all!
7) Which is your favorite re-telling of a classic fairy tale and why? I Love Disney's re-telling of sleeping beauty because they put there own faboulous swing on it and I just loved how it turned out!
8) Which fairy tale character is most like you? Princess Tiana. Simple dream.Sinple lifestyle. Trying to figure out who she wants to become. Perfectly me.
9) If you could choose any fairy tale character, who would you be and why? Hmmm... I'd really like to be little mermaid! Because she's a mermaid! :)
10) If you could have one wish what would it be? d!!! I WANT TOGO ON AN ADVENTURE!!!! But if there were not any choises, I'd do anything to have my grandpa back.
11) If you could find out anything about your favorite fairy tale character outside the pages of her story, what would it be? Belle, do you still live in the beast's castle or are you currently living somewhere else?
12) Can I email you the pictures?

Thanks for entering, Erica. :) It was fun reading your answers. Feel free to email me your pictures. Maybe I'll do a special post with the pics from all of my non-blogging entrants. :D

Also, I got your entry for the contest. Thanks!

Sorry, All AG. Your last comment ended up in my spam folder. I'll check out the link when I have a chance and let you know what I think. :)

Elliebob said...

So we leave a comment with our whole post in it? P.S. could you please do a tutorial post on drawing?? :)

Hannah Prewett (beastsbelle) said...

Hi Elliebob. Since you have a blog, there's no need to put your whole post in the comment. You can just put a "link" (that we'll have to copy and paste) to your post so we can find it. :)

I'd love to do a tutorial post on drawing. I don't know how helpful I'll be, since I totally do my own thing and don't draw the "right" way. It'll have to wait until after the Blogoversary celebrations are over, but I'll see what I can do. :)

Erica said...

Okay! :) I'll email you the pictures!!

Sounds good Erica. :)
